BasilRathbon 27-02-2008, 11:19 Are you wanting it as a pet or is Richard Gere paying you a visit? BoppinBruce 27-02-2008, 13:19 try Critter Sitters or Noahs Ark sherakapod 27-02-2008, 13:22 the only place I know of is hamsterdam. you can get cheap trips there now for a weekend away etc:roll: komal 27-02-2008, 13:31 oh my, dont get one from pets at home!!!! BoppinBruce 27-02-2008, 13:37 Try Freddie Starr, he has eaten one so I believe, or Gail Platt, she looks like one and must have mothered a few. Fougasse 27-02-2008, 13:37 There is a 'free animal forum' on freecycle I believe, for small animals etc. Or is it on here? puddinburner 27-02-2008, 13:40 You mean those horrible creatures that look all cute and cuddly but can bite to the bone in seconds! Try middletons at bottom of moor, they usually have these things for kids in. steveb2007 27-02-2008, 13:40 oh my, dont get one from pets at home!!!! I'll second that!We got one from there and it died of wet tail within a week, and i also know of 3 others which followed suit. A breeder is much better, our is nearly 2 now and he's been great, really tame,no problems etc.... BasilRathbon 27-02-2008, 13:40 If you can't get hold of a hamster why not get a gerbil that does impressions? _Kirsty_ 27-02-2008, 13:47 oh my, dont get one from pets at home!!!! Why why why? I did, mine have had to be put into seperate cages now! :o komal 12-03-2008, 12:40 Why why why? Either you're cursed or there's a pet shop owner with a sideline in serial killing....... Tricky 12-03-2008, 12:54 Maybe the friends died from eating the hamsters. There's always a simple explanation if you look hard enough. sheff_girl 12-03-2008, 16:31 I got my hamster from the new pets at home in Parkgate. It was a male....a week later it produced 8 babies. So if anyone wants one when they're old enough, pm me!! jaiden 12-03-2008, 16:34 a hamster in sheffield? Thought it was just animals. sheff290 17-10-2008, 20:35 dont get any hamsters from pets at home they are not friendly and die very quick sadly kateykate 17-10-2008, 20:43 i got my hamster from pets at home months ago and its the friendliest hamster ive ever had! It used to be a bit funny at first but i kept picking it up and now it loves being out and even stays still when you stroke its head. Its also half albino, half white half brownish and one pink eye. V cute. sheff290 17-10-2008, 20:48 just speaking from experience mine and other peoples i would awalys go for hamsters who have been handled from birth and not stuck in a pet shop but glad yours turned alright but if you are still looking or anyone looking for a hamster (baby) pm monkeynut1 she has baby boys but sadly the girls are taken. clea_4eva 17-10-2008, 20:48 the pet shop at firth park is usually good for hamsters most of the time they're already tame, never had any problms with any from there Plain Talker 17-10-2008, 21:11 Why why why? I did, mine have had to be put into seperate cages now! :o why were they put into a cage together in the first place? :o (not an agressive comment, BTW:- I'm just utterly aghast that the seller who sold them to you didn't warn you that it is imperative that hamsters not be put together, as they will fight to the death.) Hamsters have to be kept as "singletons", not in groups like rats or gerbils. sheff290 17-10-2008, 21:14 im sorry but i no sevral people who have russian dwarfs in groups its just syrians that youre not ment to have together Plain Talker 17-10-2008, 22:29 im sorry but i no sevral people who have russian dwarfs in groups its just syrians that youre not ment to have together no necessarily:- Russian dwarves can also be extremely aggressive toward each other; it's not guaranteed that they will live harmoniously together. sheff290 17-10-2008, 23:14 i no all about russian dwarf hamsters because my friend is a expert on them. and have kept them all my life in groups and have never had any problems. Plain Talker 18-10-2008, 09:34 i no all about russian dwarf hamsters because my friend is a expert on them. and have kept them all my life in groups and have never had any problems. Yes, Syrians definitely need to be kept apart, but as I said above, it doesn't necessarily follow that because you have had no problems keeping dwarf hammies in groups/ pairs that they all get on, as a whole. It is not certain, at all, that everything will be hunky-dory. I've kept shedloads of hammies, since I was young, (mainly Syrians) but I had two sets of dwarves, and had to separate them for fighting, as they were very aggressive toward each other. Despite the general consensus being that they should get on okay, it's not a dead-cert, and anyone keeping dwarf hammies still needs to be vigilant for signs of fighting or aggression. littleblue 18-10-2008, 21:18 no necessarily:- Russian dwarves can also be extremely aggressive toward each other; it's not guaranteed that they will live harmoniously together. On the whole most will live happily in groups- but just like people, some wont get on with others. To the others saying about Pets at Home -they have got a lot better now - we had a lovely little hammy from PaH and he lived to the ripe of old age of 2 years and 4 months before having to be put down because of a tumour on his head. He was a bit stand offish, but could be very loving and really cute. I miss him :( sheff290 18-10-2008, 21:20 awww im sure u have happy memories of him though. littleblue 18-10-2008, 21:23 awww im sure u have happy memories of him though. Yeah, he was fab. I do still have the scar where he bit me because I really wanted to play, and he didn't. :hihi: And I thought only kids did that :P sheff290 18-10-2008, 21:23 lol bless i love hamsters.! SpeedDemon 18-10-2008, 21:41 PM ami_j on here, I'm pretty sure she breeds hammys :) ami_j 19-10-2008, 00:27 i do and i might have some in couple of months...just lost a whole litter of longhaireds...
