View Full Version : Taking a puppy to Obedience class honestjoe69 25-02-2008, 10:17 Quick question - at what age is a puppy allowed to obedience classes? (also must they be toilet trained?) thank you Lotti 25-02-2008, 10:31 Although it depends on the class, it' usually as soon as they're fully vaccinated. This varies but it's usually: 1st vac @ 8 weeks 2nd vac @ 10 weeks + 1 week for that to take effect = ready at 11 weeks. At proper puppy classes - designed only for pups they often require that the pup is no older than a certain age (usually 16 weeks) at the beginning of the course but an ordinary obedience class will have dogs of all ages. Also - if the class don't state the pup must be fully vacc'd PLEASE still wait and remember that the pup isn't ready to go out until a week after the 2nd vaccination. Lotti 25-02-2008, 10:32 Toilet training: Most pups, even those that are housetrained will have accidents at training. My pup did, several times  The trainers should have a mop and bucket/disinfectant and towels etc. it's embarassing but you get over it ;) mrsjet 26-02-2008, 21:30 hi i know that the training clubs i use will accept a puppy once its fully vacinated Lotti 26-02-2008, 21:36 And this (http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b10/Lottiepics/Takara/DSCF0587.jpg) is how your pup is likely to look on the way home :D |
