Nope, not heard anything and there is nothing on either the BBC website or the Star website, but then again Im not easily shocked these days..

The place has more CCTV than the White House, so hopefully if true they will find the culprit.

So does most of Sheffield at night, but this sort of comment will just turn it into another chav thread Rich. Anyone can do what has allegedly happend and whilst I have not heard of any big trouble lately at the Ball I never go in as it just has that reputation and it doesn't suprise me when it does happen.

When moving here and looking for pubs to test the sheer number of CCTV cameras put me right off and I have never set foot inside - there's no smoke without fire and all that.
Reinforced a couple of months ago when a woman in a "done up" astra pulled out from their car park in front of me swigging from a bud! She actually made me laugh more than anything.

You a regular in there then?

I can unashamedly say im a regular down there, every weekend. But still i never saw anything to do with the stabbing..

As for all the bad comments about the ball on here, i dont think its even half as bad as how its being described. Since they refurbished, theres hardly any young chav types in there, one or two on the odd night but they never cause us any trouble.
N the music on friday & sunday is brilliant.

No actually, I've only ever been in about twice in mylife.

And will certain people on here get it into their heads that I am NOT, I repeat NOT a chav!

I realise I mention chavs probably more than I should, I just find them fascinating creatures.

Do you see?

Heard that someone got beaten up and needed an operation on his eye to sort him out, but I would think stabbing to death is something that would be reported even of the blue ball!

Thats what i would have thought, if someone actually did die, shouldnt they be shutting it for a while?

in to nights star
a teenager is recovering from eye surgery and has been told he could lose his sight after he was attacked in a sheffiled pub
the 16 year old had surgery after his eye socket was fractured and his eyeball was disloged he was assaulted in the old blue ball in bradfield road hillsborugh after an argument with two other men police saya number of other people became embroiled during the fracas the teenager ended up being pushed onto his knees and he was slashed on his lower neck
he was carried out of the pub througha rear fire door and claims he was held by the throat and punched in the eye
a group of strangers gave him a lift home and he was later taken to hospital for treatment he was kept in overnight and went back on wednesday this week for his eye operation
this no change there then with the ball one of reasons i left there years ago coz of schoolkids and trouble

What's the point of having several cameras and bouncers at this place when incidents go 'unnoticed'?

The Old Blue Ball has been described as a thieves den for years and I often wonder how the local population view the place.

The Ball has a reputation for being a trouble spot and has had this for a lot of years.
I used to drink there in the 70's and it was just the same then.
I think this must be because it's the pub that teenagers mainly use.
The incidents of trouble don't seem to be as regular as some city centre pubs and the Shakey, Masons, Legends and Deep end are fine examples of friendly lively pubs.

The Ball is a place where I have been before but never again. Full of underage scally types.

Unfortunately most of Hillsborough is the same

Rich - Hmmm. 40 of your posts contain the word 'chav'. I would have thought the count would have been a lot higher! :D

What I want to know is how and why was a 16 year old drinking in a pub in the first place. I hope the police will be having some strong words with the management of this pub

Yes 40 out of just over 2800, merely 1.5% of my entire postings, hardly worthy of constant accusations of me being a chav is it? So my advice to you and everyone else who throws chav insults at me would be to STFU and get the chuff over it.

I wasn't insulting you Rich, I was sympathising. I would have thought the amount of posts would be higher considering the frequency I've noticed the subject mentioned on the forums.

Anyway, thanks for the kind words and pleasant attitude!

Did I hear the Chav alarm?!?!?! Damn it the car wont start! Kristian we will save you don't worry.

Tiffy I think most of the local population don't care about it as there are plenty of other pubs in and around hillsborough that are fine pubs to go to. It was always a hang out for the kids from Bradfield, Myers grove and occasionally Wisewood schools to go fight in. Thing is they were always let in, Monday was £1 entry and £1 drinks. I always went to the shakey and deep end as my mates worked there.

Just wait for the nest incident now, this may be they catalyst for a run of them.

You don't know Tracie? It has been going off all week, how can you not hear it:suspect: That's it no pay for you this week:cool:

Well what's next for the ball? It's the worst place in Hillsborough, i'm not suprised they tried putting any ASBO on it likt they did Berlins/Pruple/cess pit in town. Of course any restrictions would make the place close down as they rely on underage drinkers no doubt.
