Ok I admit it. It's an illness I know. CKD.

Compulsive Karaoke Disorder wrecks lives. It broke up my first marriage, and caused me to pack in my high - flying job.

Before I knew it I was travelling the world, belting out House of the Rising Sun in places as diverse as Tenerife, Prague, Cape Town, Pnom Penh. and LuangPrabang in Laos.

You're good people, I know. Now I find myself in Sheffield, can anyone give me any idea of the best place to feed my addiction...?

Well...

The places I know of..

Sundays at the Black Bull in Ecclesfield, Thursdays at the Old Crown on London Road (I think, you'd need to check they still have it on), Rising Sun on Fulwood Road has it periodically

I believe Chas Chas in town also have Karaoke, need to check with DJ_Shadowman on that count, he's the DJ there :)

Yep Deejay, Cha Cha's has karaoke on from Thursday to Saturday from 7 pm onwards.......

On Thursday nights, if you sing twice you get a free beer and on Saturday night from 8pm most drinks are just £1.

And for those of you that dont know, we have a Gary Numan tribute band playing on Tuesday night from 8pm.......free admission as well (slightly off topic I know, but you cant blame me for trying !)

I was unfortunate enough to be in Cha Chas last night - the Indian buffet upstairs was great but the bar downstairs was quite possibly the worst bar I've ever been in - it's like a working mens club function room - the only difference is it's been decorated recently.

Bedhead will back me up on this, lol :)

So how was it the worst bar that you have ever been in ?
There were other forum members there last night that thought different - but we all have the right to our own opinion...

It was actually on my agenda to go here but I'm not into Karoke while I'm trying to enjoy a meal and good company.

The karaoke is in the downstairs bar, totally seperate from the restaurant which is upstairs..also the soundproofing between the two is excellent so you cannot hear it upstairs.

Thank god for that. I've been wanting to try this place for months and have heard good reports.

Of course we do and I'm not saying other people wouldn't enjoy it but to me and the people I was with it was abysmal, there was no atmosphere. Nothing to do with the karaoke although I'm not a fan - just the layout of the place, it's a large enough area but they've done nothing good with it - a few table scattered about, DJ in the corner and a bandit near the middle of it all. One of the lads with us was tempted to go to the bar and ask for a raffle ticket as it was just like a working mens club only cleaner. I half expected a kid to come running past and then go sliding on his knees. Maybe when it's busier it feels different? Food was very nice though so may go back some time.

Like anything else though it's each to their own and some people looked as though they were having a great time, you won't know until you've been eh? :)

The best karaoke in Sheffield I think is at The Old Crown on London Rd on a Thursday & Friday night.

They have really good karaoke in The Shakey in Hillsborough on a Friday and Sunday night (sunday night being the best and more lively) - i work there, im not promoting it, it really is a good laugh - the DJ Ray May is fantastic - hes the same DJ who does Karaoke at the Sherwood up Birley!

You should give it a try!
