I'd recommend something from the rascal range, by electric mobility.
Rascals are sturdy, reliable, and can carry quite significant weights. (some models can carry 24 to 32 stone!)
I'm on my third machine in 10 years from them:- had a 2nd hand "245" , 3-wheeler scoota... a 310 four-wheeler scoota, and am currently pootling about in a 312 turnabout powerchair.
Scootamart in Preston are ace, and, like John Lewis, they have an undersale policy, so if you see the same model elsewhere in a shop or on the net, at a lower price, they will beat that price. That's where I bought my 312 from, my Bro-in-law here in sheffield has also bought his powerchair from them, and a couple of other frriends have bought from them too. good prices, friendly and helpful, and a good aftersales! :D (www. scootamart.com)
They will come all the way over here, and bring a few different machines, for you to test-drive, no obligation (And IIRC, they do finance).

Had a thought after reading this thread. Maybe we could keep a watchdog thread sort of where people recommend equipment or suppliers and say if any have had problems eg a scooter that didn't do what the manufacturers claimed or is hard to fold down.
What do you think?
i would be interested in reviews.
