I have a very large fleece bed that has had little use and a unopened bag of Burns potato and rice 15 kg size.
I would like to know if it is allowed on the forum to run a mini auction with all proceeds going to Oscars boarding fees fund?
I could deliver either to the winner if in Sheffield.
Please who ever is in charge let me know as I do not want to upset anyone.
Thanks

It sounds a great idea :) I don't know if its allowed, never seen it happen before, why not Pm Medusa and ask her? I'm sure she will get you going in the right direction
Failing that you could always put them in items for sale then provide a link on here... the large fleece bed certainly sounds very tempting
great idea, we do this on our forum, just using one thread and people add posts with increasing prices and its locked by admin at say 9pm on a certain day, once the winning bid is recieved the items are sent out, i could offer one of my handmade collars to that too with a pretty trim, id be happy to post to winner and make to any size, maybe that would bring a little more. anna.x.

I am just looking for the rules but I am pretty sure that the 'For Sale' section insists that you state the price of items. I can see you have the best of intentions but unfortunately too many people have used 'auctions' for profiteering.
I'm going to suspend this thread pending a mod answer....

That sounds great Anna... I hope that you can do it and others add to it too would be a great way to raise money for a good cause.
I am sure that myself or one of the other GL's would be happy to help in any way :)
Geckoqueen posted while I was typing, yes its best to wait and see what admin say before getting too excited :( fingers crossed!

Hi
I have some feedback for you.
Basically, it's really not an option to host an auction on SF (for complicated and legal reasons) but we'd have no problems with a thread in pets linking to a live charity auction on an auction site, as long as it was posted as an interest piece in the group rather than in the classifieds to drum up business.
In line with the rules on the classified section, please include some sort of discount for SFers(free local delivery or a freebie or whatever).
I'll re-open this so you can discuss fund raising ideas but please don't use it to start an auction or start making pledges for the items. Otherwise I'll have to close it again.
Thanks

Thanks for the thought Cavi-Lover.
Poor lonely Oscar is still in his lonely kennel. He is such a superb dog and has been languishing in there for nearly a month now - and yes - at £6.00 per day.
So any money going towards his boarding would be appreciated. thank you
