I see Disco got it all wrong about Deep/Tech House being the next big thing - it's actually bassline! Saw the advert on telly and felt rather ill: http://www.ministryofsound.com/music/albums/20080221_Bassline

Time to swap bandwaggons Stevo, you're on the wrong one! :hihi: ;)

MoS have got on the bassline wagon, expect it to be everywhere all year. to be fair though its nice to know some local lads are finally getting some recognition. They've more than paid their dues and deserve it. At least they stuck to their guns when everyone said they wouldn't get anywhere. More power to them

Ministry have no shame - they'll nick, re-package and regurgitate anything if they can sell it to the masses and make them money, they're an embarassment to what they once were.

Good point in hand here - much like minimal, hardhouse, techno and whatever other sub-genre they want to exploit this week, bassline's been around years and will be long after this fad dies, it just happens that 'the man' has decided it's currently cool and we'll be force fed it until we're sick. Ask Trance.

Ask Trance. You're completely right thing with bassline is its basically a musical cul-de-sac, much like hardcore it exists in its own little niche (excuse the pun) and the people who love it really love it.

Ministry will do what they do best which is sell things and there will be people to buy it. Bassline was already starting to break through a little anyway and the signs were there it was going to go overground. I'm pleased for the DJ's, they're going to make a load of cash while they're hot and I don't blame them

Sorry to hear that Speedqueen was on and I missed it, as I was away for the weekend watching a drag competition in Ireland where some of my friends were appearing....
I'll be at the next Speedqueen though, with any luck.

Speedqueen was fab as always!

I've noticed the bassline kind of sounds being slipped into a few mixes that were meant to be more techno (although I'm rubbish with genres, I like all different but I know bassline is not one of them!). I don't know any names of the tracks, I'd have to sing/hum them to you!

Even my own mother, who is a 'funkysexyelectrohouse' kind of lady is always playing this godawful song that sounds like it should be played in Niche/Limit, it's worse than Heartbroken :(
