View Full Version : What to put on my website?
pretty_polly 03-03-2005, 07:58 Hi All, can you please help me. A few years back I did my own website, I had evyething on there from cars to fitness. But I lost it all when my PC got a virus and I didn't back it up (I know better now!)
Anyway my point is I would like to do another one but I am stuck on what to put on it. My question to you all is, what would you like to see on a web site? From both men and women.
I am stuck on what to do!!
Thanks

muddycoffee 03-03-2005, 09:27 Hi,
I never have any trouble making stuff up for web pages. I just make things up all the time. I have well over 200 pages here :-
http://www.rocknroll.f9.co.uk/index.htm
And I have plenty more stuff on another webspace too..
Have a look and see if you get any ideas. I am more interested in style than content. And none of the pages look professional and some of my older pages look quite basic.
I get lots of feedback from people who add things to my pages, so I find if I do something which is interesting to other people, e.g old cinemas of sheffield :-
http://www.rocknroll.f9.co.uk/cinemas/cinepho3.html
then I constantly get people sending in their memories too.
I sometimes start things when I'm drunk, and edit them down a bit the day after. This approach often makes the writing more funny and less constricted, but I never put anything online until i've checked it in the cold light of day.

Apologies for off-topic-ness, but by quoting your post, have I just broken the rules stated in your sig?
Can you make that sort of ruling statement in your sig?
In a personal email, sure, but in a post submitted to a public forum?

Hi Polly.
General Sheffield information is pretty well covered I reckon, by this site and others.
There are a few local clubs though - like the Yorkshire Paranormal Society, or the Sheffield Dirt Society to name two - that others might be interested in joining.
I would like to see a listing of these local clubs, a bit of a write-up on what they do, and how to get in contact with them.
Like weblinks, email adresses, who's in charge etc.
There seems to be a few different clubs that get mentioned on the forum and a database of them would be quite useful for many people I reckon.
I bet there are walkers groups, martial arts groups, cycling clubs, dancing clubs, bird watching clubs etc etc that are based locally and could all do with some more coverage.
Edit: Seems the new "Sheffield Related Links" page is now online and does this.
So ignore me. :)
pretty_polly 03-03-2005, 16:18 Thank you all for your feedback, I have few more ideas now. Watch this space.
Thanks
