my mate who started fishing last year at the age of 60 has just rung me,the concessionary licence can now only be obtained if you are a blue badge owner or you receive higher rate of mobility component of the disability living allowance, or registered blind and, wait for it.......you have severe disability in BOTH upper limbs, how the hell do you fish with no movement in your arms ? well so much for labour and wanting to get people involved in angling and sport.

the licence money is supposed to go to the environment agency to help anglers and clean up rivers, why should anglers pay for cleaning the rivers that the government allowed industry to polute in the first place?

any one remember the name of the sports minister and the address?,cause this stinks worse than the river don did twenty years ago, forgot to add, my mate has throat cancer and lung cancer ,i thought teaching him to fish could help him relax in the time he has left

From reading this (http://www.environment-agency.gov.uk/news/994080?lang=_e&theme=&region=&subject=&searchfor=fishing+licence) it seems to suggest that nothing much has changed.

You used to have to show a benefits book to get the concession but now you have to show a blue badge. It even says that more people will be eligible.

If you are dis-satisfied then why don't you send a complaint to your MP and see what he or she has to say about the matter?
