View Full Version : What's Heeley Green like? midgecat 20-02-2008, 12:00 Been looking at properties in Heeley Green and wondering what it's like living up there. Any thoughts? sheff21 20-02-2008, 12:09 Just moved there well very clsoe to there and where we are is very nice. Seems a few kids hang arouond near the shops, but they are gone as I think that around the shops there is a curfew. kckc 24-02-2008, 22:21 Been there 5+ years and found it not bad at all. Convenient for town and good views. Mathom 25-02-2008, 08:29 It's good. Ex-council on the street called 'Heeley Green' or one of the other houses? Some of the council and ex-council modern properties can be a bit scruffy. It's very handy for town (only a fiver in a taxi ;)) and has decent shops, a good GP, good takeaways, fabulous chippy, a dentist, churches, city farm etc. Buses get very full though :( And I'd advise getting a drive if you're hung up on avoiding parking problems on match days. Not much bother from kids as they have plenty of youth clubs etc. Near the Sheaf View of course for a good pint. If you have kids check the address for school catchments on the council website as on one side of some roads the catchment is for Springs Academy and on the other it's for Newfield (not the best school, but better!). Anne's Grove is now a very good school indeed. Good mix of people - young families, old folk, tradesmen, professionals, greenies... low_carbon 26-02-2008, 16:32 We live in Meersbrook but are within 3 mins walk of Heeley Green. Great facilities and friendly people. Been living in the area for 9 years and really like it. The ancient woods of the Gleadless Valley on your doorstep are a real bonus. As Mathom says, there's a good mix of people who generally live happily together and sense of community is good. Which bit of Heeley Green were you thinking about? Obviously some bits are more 'desirable' than others midgecat 08-03-2008, 19:17 Sorry to have been so long following this up and thanks for all the feedback. The bit of Heeley Green I was looking at is where the ex-council houses are like Sturge Court. Thanks |
