Hi

We keep getting mailshots from a company called Sheffield Prize Register (part of Prize Register UK), telling us we've won this, that and the other.

Naturally there is a premium rate phone number to call (in Ross On Wye) at £1.60 a minute, where we will be allocated a prize number and find out what we've won.

Is anyone else getting these????

Done. Thanks.

Perhaps we ought to have a 'scams' thread on here to help vulnerable people??? There seem to be so many going around at the moment.

Does it sound too good to be true?

Therein lies your answer. As I keep telling my young lad when he gets the "winning" scratchcards in the newspaper- if you've bought nowt, you've won nowt!

Well anything that tells you you've won a competition or lottery that you've not entered is very obviously spam. If they say your name has been randomly picked out then think: no one gives prizes away for the sake of it. iYou get either emails, telephone messages or junk mail

I got one the other day, it said that my number had been "randomly" picked by some bloke called Ernie and mentioned a bond I was in as a premium member (how original) and I had won the jackpot.

It was a freephone number so I got to ring them up and call them all a bunch of b*****s and told them to take me off their list and stop pestering me...... Jeez some people.!!

They even went as far as telling me they were a government agency!!! I ought to report them.
