My house was built in the late 1920's. In the kitchen there is still what I believe to be an original Yorkshire Range coal fire /oven.
I have always liked it but it is a horrible brown speckled enamel finish and looks tired.
Does anyone know if it can be re-enamelled or in any way tarted up?
Suggestions please.

I'd go for removal, sandlblast, get it re-enamelled. Will cost you but will make it look excellent.

Failing that, spray on heat resistant engine paint once it's been cleaned.

My suggestion is leave it......... someday it may become an interest to younger generations who will never have seen this type of 'fireplace'. Hey they were best of their times. Great Yorkshire puddings, stews and also rice puddings. Do you use yours for any of these. Do try it if it is still in its original state and for solid fuel use.
