Some time ago I joined a Spanish forum. I made a few aquaintances, especially those who were thinking of coming to England to learn English.

A couple of weeks ago, totally out of the blue, I got an e mail from a girl who wanted information on the best places to come to in England.

Naturally I promoted our lovely city by saying that it had a large student population, with quite a large proportion of them from abroad.

Anyway, again out of the blue, an e mail has just arrived saying that she will be coming here next week and can I give her information re accomodation and obtaining work!

I'm stuck!

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I stalled her by telling her that I couldn't promise but I would try to get some info and that I would e mail her back tomorrow.

Shame you only got one reply, you ought to have mentioned bus drivers and asylum seekers the thread would have been buzzing for weeks:(

As I boarded the 23 bus today, I noticed loads of foreign people getting on and going to a factory near aston. It's called hazelwoods, I think and they're always advertising for people. If she can speak good english, the ubiquitous ant marketing (ha ha ha) is always on the lookout for unfortunate victims, sorry, workers.

i might be able to put her up for a few weeks,only after ive seen a photo though,:D :D :D send me a pic then i'll book the missis a fortnight in majorca..sorted:)

you could try ANT marketing. don't they pay extra for speaking a foreign language?

Don't blame the people in the call centres, they're just slaves working on minimum wage. Blame the idiots like ANT for having the company in the first place

Especially if she comes across, dresses like a Chav and drives too fast through a speed camera .......

Why blame ant for running a business??? If you had your own business wouldn't you employ people on the lowest possible wage to make maximum profit?

Sam, I would give her links to the major agencies in Sheffield - people like Hayes, Office Angels and the like. At least she'd be able to contact them prior to coming here and get a feel for what's available.

I'll let you know if I hear anything from her.
