View Full Version : Gary Numan Live @ Corporation
Gary Numan will be playing live at the Corporation on the 1st March 2008. Entire Replicas Album plus B-Sides.
Can anyone remember going to see Gary play live in sheffield.
Replicas is one of my more favourable albums from his early days,
along with The Pleasure Principle and Telekon.
Still listen to many of the early tracks like, Me I Disconnect from You, This Wreckage, I die, you die, Are Friends Electric, Cars, Metal, Tracks, We are Glass, Complex, My Shadow in Vain, Down in the Park, You are in my Vision, Replicas, to mention a few.
The band members of Tubeway Army are no longer with him, Gary is more heavier and deeper with his Guitar sound nowadays.
pattricia 18-02-2008, 23:41 Jabberwocky will be very interested in this as Gary Numan was his favourite singer.
I still think Gary has big following in Sheffield.
I listened to him on the Jonathan Ross show on Radio 2 on Saturday, Gary is still passionate about what he does.
I've seen him live many times in Sheffield, London, Manchester, Leicester, Hull, Preston, to name a few.
Still enjoy his music, early stuff up to present day.
I,ve met him many times and he's just a very down to earth bloke.
Jabberwocky 18-02-2008, 23:58 Interested is an understatement! Replicas was the first Album I bought and Ive got my hands on every one hes made since.
Sadly though Ive never had the chance to see him live for one reason or another, but one day I will, the bloke is utterly brilliant.
Jabberwocky,
Take a look at Gary's website Nuworld - www.numan.co.uk
News of where Gary will be appearing tv, Radio, Live Shows.
Agent Orange 19-02-2008, 09:00 I saw a poster the other day for this and I might have to be in attendance.
Ghostrider 19-02-2008, 10:53 The fan club have approached me to find a venue for a pre/aftershow party (as I arranged a Numan disco for them a couple of years ago)
Talking to a couple of venues today, so will hopefully be able to sort something)
And Jabbers, im hoping you will be able to make this one cos as you know, Gary usually turns up at the aftershow parties - just a pity you couldnt make it to Nottingham last year...
Jabberwocky 19-02-2008, 10:59 Im waiting patiently until hes in Leicester- hes BOUND to be there again one of these days, its the only place I can get to and back from with minimal fuss, unless he performs in Coalville, which I doubt because our only "Theater" is a converted railway carriage, we`re such a tiny place.
Ill get to see him one day though, my time is pretty limited but I made it my ambition!

Don't give up hope; my brother's a massive Numan fan and once dragged me to a concert he was doing at a sports centre in Mansfield. Admittedly he was a bit down on his luck at the time (Numan, not my brother) but there's an increasing tendency for 1980s pop acts to be playing much smaller towns these days.
Only the other week Howard Jones was performing in a hotel in Dodworth!

Thats what Im relying on, hes bound to play a smaller venue sooner or later and we fit the bill perfectly here, a packed house is 5 people :D
I've seen Gary at a few venues in Sheffield,
Arena when he supported OMD, City Hall, Leadmill.
The Flag in London is the smallest venue I've ever seen him play live, more like a pub. Hammersmith Odeon was quite a good venue.
Liverpool Empire has a big stage plus orchestra pit which gives the impression Gary's miles away.
Manchester Appollo is always crazy really good atmosphere there.
Gary plays Glasgow ABC after Sheffield, the Barrowlands in Glasgow was always a tricky one for Gary.
I never really liked Rock City in Nottingham as a venue.
I very possibly might go to this event, I only saw him once at the City Hall in the 1988 and I loved it, Replicas is one of the better albums and I have enjoyed his music ever since his early days in Tubeway Army.
briggy1967 19-02-2008, 15:39 Am a MASSIVE Numan fan (and really bugs me when people spell in Newman!)
Earliest memory of ANY music is sat on a juke box in scarborough amusement arcade and Cars came on,was gobsmacked by it and still love listening to it today
As soon as i got home i went out and bought Pleasure Principle L.P.
Best mate once stood next to Numan in Roxys toilets, was sooooooooooo jealous
Ghostrider 20-02-2008, 08:25 Take a look here :

Although they have cocked up a little, I told them I had 2 possible venues, and they have said on the site that it was definately booked into one venue.
There is a possibility of Numan turning up at the aftershow party (nothing unusual there) but I am in talks with his manager to see if we can get a definate yay or nay.
However, the manchester show has a confirmed appearance at the aftershow party as its his birthday....
Who can go to the after show party, anyone.
Been to a couple in Sheffield before and Leicester,
then various disco ones and London Flag on Gary's birthday.
Warren Cann ex drummer of Ultravox turned up to that one.
I suppose with the 30th anniversary of being in the business and Gary's birthday makes it rather special.
The tickets for this tour seem to be selling fast probably because the Replicas album when first released wasn't promoted with a tour.
The Tour begins Friday 29th February in Bristol, with Gary playing live in Sheffield on Saturday 1st March.

melthebell 01-03-2008, 10:04 bah only just seen this....well i wont be getting down to sheff today for it :(
freaklikeme 02-03-2008, 18:18 I went last night but didn't rate Corp as a venue for Numan. I've been going to see him play live for the last 28 years and was abit disappointed, thought The Leadmill would've been better or even somewhere abit bigger?
Agent Orange 03-03-2008, 11:36 The gig was sold out and was gutted that I didnt get to see it. Oh hum!! Anyway, did make it to the Corp afterwards and drowned my sorrows :hihi:
nuromantic 10-03-2008, 00:01 Corp was too small, too crowded. Went to the supposed "aftershow". Not sure how a Blues Bros tribute ties in with Numan..??!!
Manchester Academy last night was far superior. Nottm Rock City on Weds was also much better.

ust for fiu

No real advertising, it was a last minute thing done off my own back - as stated already, it was just for fun (although one of my drives died as I loaded up)
So, if anyone is thinking about a Numan party, let me know - it will be FOC
TBH - cant wait - it will be a blast......
