View Full Version : Burger Knight in Meadowhall?
waxonwaxoff 18-02-2008, 20:02 Does anybody else think there is something bazaar about this place? OK so heres my thinking. Burger knight is a company that no one has ever heard of selling cheap skanky burgers at Burger king prices. It usually has a maximum of 5 customers at a time yet they manage to rent one of the biggest food units in meadowhall. So how are they doing it and how are they there. Look at the complete uproar at having a primark in meadowhall. Apparently not bringing in the right clientelle.
Anybody else think something odd is going on or are they a secret undercover agency with a fast food facade? :D
xxsarahxx 18-02-2008, 20:11 what is burger knight? iv never even heard of it.

to be honest i would rather eat my own poo than have another burger from there lol x
We always buy food from Greggs, a drink from Burger King/Burger Knight and sit at their tables. They're usually OK with this, especially cos we know a few of the staff. On Saturday we went, and one of their employees who was tidying the tables seemed to be moving people who were eating Greggs food from the tables. He looked at us and said quite rudely "Don't leave your rubbish!" Its not like it was busy, it never is, and I always clear up after myself, I think its rude not to.
the_rudeboy 18-02-2008, 22:13 By the look of the place it must be an eastern european company trying to break into the UK market.
lubylou12 18-02-2008, 22:43 hi guys i went to burger knight when it 1st opened, it has the same manager and same staff as when it was burker king, i went in with the kids and asked them if it tastes the same, they said yes, it was bloody horrible, tasted like a cheap manky burger, dont go it a rip off
jon&emma 18-02-2008, 23:09 hi guys i went to burger knight when it 1st opened, it has the same manager and same staff as when it was burker king, i went in with the kids and asked them if it tastes the same, they said yes, it was bloody horrible, tasted like a cheap manky burger, dont go it a rip off
i second that. it is a ripoff
SpeedwayDan 19-02-2008, 02:08 you're all talking as though burger king is the luxury in burgers, no offence but most fast food places are manky
BeightonBabe 19-02-2008, 03:58 Me and my friend made the big mistake of eating there we had been stuck on the bus for an hour and a half and we were feeling rather ill.
So we went to "burger king" which turned out to be "burger night" i was like what the... but we were hungry so we ventured in to be greted (if you can call it that) by a young woman who said what do you want to eat, so my friend said i'll have a veggie burger meal please, in the prosess of this i was stood (admitedly gawping and looking rather gourmless) looking at the menus, not been able to belive my eyes at the prices £5 for a burger no chips or drink and it was a lamb burger at that, also the fact that i felt as if i was going to pass out due to not eating/been stuck on a bus for ages did not help in making my decision a quick one.
So this woman who sereved us broke my thoughts by saying to my friend "is SHE having the same or wot" so i simply replied "no SHE is not having the same" and that i had not yet decied.
so feeling rather intimidated by this assistant i ordered something which when it came was absolutally discusting but i had paid a fiver for it and that was all the money i had left (the rest was vouchers) i ate it.
Big mistake i was almost instantly ill and was so for 2 more days afterwards i dont know what caused it to this day i still think (think i don't know for definate) it was mild food poisioning but i know i will never ever go back in this place again.
as i see it i dont know why they ever got rid of Burger KING the food was so much better and there was more people in there, i very rarely eat in fast food places but this was enough to put me off for a long while.
Sorry for the rant..

Not been in since it changed, never likely to either. :(
Big Godders 19-02-2008, 08:18 Well I can quite happily say that the couple of times I have called there the food has been absolutely fine.
In fact the reason I went the second time is because I enjoyed the first burger so much.
Given that it is fast food it is never going to be corden bleu tackle, but try it before you decide.
rootytoot 19-02-2008, 10:34 On the rare occasions i have been to meadowhall i have seen this place and given it a wide berth, it looks dirty, unclean and even their sign looks like something that has been abandoned at a car boot sale cos it wouldn't sell :gag:
I only enjoy Burger King because of the Angus burgers which I think are delicious, but, this Burger Knight just looks like a very badly ripped of version, they have obviously downgraded from a King to the Knight, perhaps that is when you should eat their food, in the Knight, so, you cannot see how bad it is.
clockley 19-02-2008, 18:00 TBH, I quite enjoy it there. My housemate, partner and friends also agree.
I echo the comment, make your own mind up.
bigthanks 19-02-2008, 18:31 I havn't eaten at Burger Knight because of the thread started a while back warning us not to go there!
I used there tables on saturday :o after buying from greggs :o
It was 12pm and there must have been about 10 people eating there, this says it all to me!
Still baffels me why they didn't re-open burger king :loopy: I used to go there instead of facing the Oasis.
A burger outlet that's poor quality, poor service and poor tasting, but at rip-off prices?
Well I never! Whoever heard of such a thing.......
I used to go there instead of facing the Oasis.
Out of the frying pan...

You can't buy class. :|
disturnbine 22-02-2008, 16:49 i've only ventured into this place on one occasion which was about 3 weeks ago and i couldnt believe my eyes at the prices, however being hungry and the kids kicking up a fuss, we decided to stay and try it out...
big mistake, when we arrived at the counter we were greeted by a nice smile from the counter assistant who was very polite and who we thought was cute with her being tiny, just able to only just see over the counter.
however what I can only guess to be her supervisor, with her peircings and all, came round the corner and started to bite her head off in front of everyone, talking to her as if she was dirt that she'd just scraped off the bottom of her shoe. I couldnt help feeling sorry for the lass and told her so when the supervisor left, where she replied "i'm use to it".
If that was me, i would have been seeking legal advice for the abuse, I wouldnt let anyone talk to me like that
anyway to continue, we was given our food, which we returned twice because of it being cold and receiving a scowl from the supervisor each time.
whilst we was eating our food we also saw that another member of the staff was putting her boobs infront of everyone else, bouncing them up and down and bragging about the size of them, this was the final straw, I wasnt going to let the kids see this and so we left.
I will definately not be eating there again, and take my advice, just dont go

Haha, glad I saw this thread! I used to work for BK as a manager and left a few years ago. I know of a few people that still work there. Apparently..... some guy who was quite well off was talked into buying a coupla Burger Kings as franchise as a sort of project by his wife. They apparently didn't do a very good job, and went into receivership. The guy had his fingers in several pies, so sold some back to BK, but kept the Meadowhell one and opened it as a Burger Knight, it is their own brand, not a franchise as far as I am aware.
According to a manager I know who works there, the food is better quality then the 3663 stuff that Burger King use. Never had it myself, apparently the breakfast are nice.. but not sure.
I still speak to an old area manager from BK, he told me that they (Burger Knight) are in financial difficulties, but owner's are telling all and sundry they are raking it in, with a view to sell it. They have to keep it open until lease runs out, so I presume the owner's other endeavours are keeping it afloat!
You only have to go past to see how dead it is even at supposed "peak times".
Talking of "rip off" places...is the Kenya Fried Chicke place still going in Firth Park?
There was a nice bloke who ran it. I was surprised that he got away with using old KFC signs with the word Kentucky cut out and the word Kenya prit sticked over the top.

That absolutely disgusts me. I would probably shrug at cold food but I would never ever revist a place where I saw the staff being treated disrespectfully with no good reason. It's so unprofessional.

I eat at Burger Knight regularly and think the food there is as good if not better than a lot of burger outlets. They do a nice minted lamb burger, and a nice "hot" chille burger,I find the staff polite and courteous, but let's face it, with all the moaners, " you can't please all of the people all of the time", you always can find someone who to find something wrong about any subject you name.
AJ sheffield 27-03-2008, 06:52 If the place gets any more empty they will be selling tumbleweed burgers.
cv65user 27-03-2008, 14:25 went there once , bought a double cheese burger meal ... bureger was burnt and it was expenseive .... nvr gng again
