I have a shop bought video and I want to put the music on to my ipod. I've a vcr and a dvd recorder so I can get the whole thing onto dvd but can I just get the music into a format which itunes will recognise?

you need a 3rd party Video converter like I'mToo Ipod or Total video converter. Both of these have proper settings for the iPod

I've just taken this setup from my Total video converter by pressing apple format...

Profile name: iPod Mpeg4 normal quality
Target type: .mp4

Custom audio sample rate: 24000 b/s
Custom audio bit rate: 64.000 kbit/s
Audio codec: aac

Custom video frame rate: 30.000 /s
Custom video bit rate: 450 kbit/s
Video codec: xvid

If you've got it onto DVD, you can rip the audio using Super (http://www.erightsoft.com/SUPER.html#Down) to mp3 (the iPoo can do mp3, can't it?)

Brilliant responses. I'll get it onto dvd and try one of these until I get what I want.
