Can anyone suggest a good pub quiz for tonight? There is a group of 5 of us who really want to go to one but aren't sure where a good one is.

There is a group of 5 of us who really want to go to one but aren't sure where a good one is. Rich 17-02-2008, 01:33 PM Holly Bush, Hollins Lane S6, doesn't start till 10.30 PM though. Also try the Pop Quiz in the Heavygate Inn near Crookes. EdnaKrabappe 17-02-2008, 01:38 PM If you don't want a taxing one for a Sunday night, the Golden Ball at Whiston hold a bingo style one. Hilarious if you get one of the girls that can't ask questions/spell/doesn't even know how quizzes work....:hihi: Also there is the Washington Sunday night quiz as well but watch out for the team of Sharpsinger and Matt... i've heard they are quite unbeatable now they've joined forces. :) Helly 17-02-2008, 01:40 PM I'm surprised there isn't a forum quiz team/outing or anything. They could aim for total domination. Rich 17-02-2008, 02:19 PM I would do a thread for a meet in the Washington tonight for the quiz, but there's no point, it'd only get shot down for being "too short notice" Helly 17-02-2008, 02:52 PM If you thought people would be interested in the idea though, why dont do one for next Sunday? I'd go SpiderPete 17-02-2008, 03:02 PM If you thought people would be interested in the idea though, why dont do one for next Sunday? I'd go We did go down once to Washington one Sunday and we won, it would work if people were given enough time, so if no one has started one by Tuesday, then I shall start one :) GruffDog 17-02-2008, 09:33 PM I'm off to the Heavygate Pop quiz, which is always good fun - its a few rounds of music and the objective is to name the tune and artist. Free to enter and beer prizes to those who do well, and the staff usually put on some good free food halfway through as well (pizza and quiche etc). It starts around 9.30pm, postcode address S6 3RQ. Meaks 18-02-2008, 01:46 AM The Heavygate was one of the best pubs in the world when Ron & Ronnie had it! :) Alas Hardy's and Hanson's was taken over by Greene King and the Kimberley magic is no more. :( Despite the Gardener's being closed Pat still does the Sunday quiz in the Moon - tin of sardines for the loser! :) redrobbo 18-02-2008, 02:35 AM I'm surprised there isn't a forum quiz team/outing or anything. They could aim for total domination. Or... if forum members wanted their own quiz night (and someone would kindly take on the organising of a venue for this event) I'd be happy to run a forum members quiz night. I've run many pub quizzes in the past, and to keep my hand in, I still run a couple of fund-raising quizzes each year. Nothing serious though -just questions on general knowledge and trivia. Entertaining and fun! GruffDog 18-02-2008, 09:36 AM The Heavygate is (again) under fairly new ownership at the moment, and have just finished a refurb of the upper bar area. Its quite a lot nicer and roomier up there now, and they've also added a coal burning stove fire thing with some sofas around it which is very cosy. They seem quite enthusiastic about getting people back in there and a nice couple so its worth another look in I suspect. Entertaining and fun! I suppose that would depend on how many people were interested in doing a quiz as to whether it'd be worth your time. I think I can feel a poll coming on ;) |
