Hi there,
I need a posh cocktail type dress for a smart function, Im thinking of a 'Bond girl at the casino' type look.
Can anyone recommend any shops? Ive had a look in all the usual chain stores and meadowhell and, barring Monsoon and Shanghai Chic, Sheffield doesnt seem to do this type of thing. Any ideas?

Karen Millen do the most amazing dresses but they are quite expensive. Anybody else got any ideas?

A shop in Beighton called Posh Frocks - bloody fantastic - all to buy or hire.
I've had a couple from there & they are quite lovely
the second floor of womenswear in debos on the moor has a section that sells some real lush frocks. can't remember what the range is called but they're between £80-£200.

If I'm thinking of the same range as you in Debenhams it's called Debut. They do wonderful dresses for balls, proms etc

Pronuptia on eccy road, the bridal shop, hire evening type frocks upstairs in all sizes and styles.
have to search for the nice stuff in a lot of older designs, but its there if you look hard enough, Hiring is about £50 a time for the newer designs,

You could have a look in some of the dress agency shops dotted around the city, as mentioned there is one at the shops om Abbeydale road at the bottom of Carter Knowle road. There's another on Abbey Lane at Woodseats and one on Abbeydale road at Millhouses. I've been in some of these shops and it is amazing what you can find with a bit of rummaging [not that I look very nice in a frock by the way] and the prices tend to be quite reasonable.

I was at TK Max in Barnsley today and they have some lovely evening/cocktail/posh dresses at really good prices - a bit different from chain store dresses.
