Balfour Beaty did some of the construction.
May have been the bridges though.

Alfred MacAlpines were the main contractor for the bypass, their main yard was on the left just as you exit the bypass at Deepcar.

is this for that clairvoyant that was in the star the other week, wanting to know the contractors so he could excorcise the bypass

sadly no, some loon of a clairvoyant claims the haunting of the bypass is being done by a monk whos remains were carted away when the deep pass was cut and he is hoping that if he finds the original contracters that they will have records as to where they dumped the excavations. armed with this info he then intends to exorcise the bypass. it was in the star sometime mid to late feb, i might have still got it at home in the scouts recycle pile, will try and dig it out, unless its recalled by anyone else

Yes definately was Alfred McAlpine, suprised that Stocksbridge Council didn't know this or were they being deliberately uncoperative.
