ok.....out of 10....what do you think you are? not talking about personality or how much designer gear you wear...just what you think about yourself in the looks/body department.

i think im a 5.....maybe with another year at gym i'll be a 6...

i wonder if someone who knows you could ever give a truly honest opinion on just your looks?....cause to me someone becomes more attractive the more you get on with them....or less attractive if they turn out to be a complete nut job

Makes no difference what number you think you're at. What makes the difference is the significant other in your life and how they rate you.

My hubby tells me I'm gorgeous - I think he has a major problem with his eyesight. He thinks I'm a nut because I tell him he's gorgeous too.

The fact is there's someone for everyone, more than one truth be told, finding them's the fun part.

I think it's much better to be realistic MTheo, and deal with what's actually there. How things are, rather than wasting time wishing things were other than how they are ... or wishing you were a '10'.

To me, thinking you're a '1' is just as bad as thinking you're a '10', it's a ridiculous notion, human beings are not numbers.

People who insist on seeing themselves in terms of '1 - 10' are on the whole boring and shallow (IMHO). Although I guess as consummers we're encouraged to see ourselves in such a way. I don't think that's a good thing, it's just how the world is today.

You don't have to buy into it though, no matter how much they try to convince us otherwise, happiness has nothing to do with what you look like, or anything that's 'out there' or external to you ...

I don't think you're doing yourself any favours by caring what other people think about you MTheo.

Yeah, it's a futile exercise... some days you can start off as a 1 or 2, then someone gives you a nice compliment and you end up feeling 11! Or vice versa of course.

Everyone's idea of a 10 is different. Thank God!

Yeah ... and also ... if you're too busy worrying about how well you rate ... you're not being relaxed and at peace and happy with yourself ... how can you be !?

Also, people who are "10-looking" are quite often a bit unapproachable to us lesser mortals. Bet they have pasty-faced, lardy-arse, bad hair days too though.

For the sake of this thread I'll try to give myself a number. I'd say I'm probably an 8. I'm not image obsessed at all but I do like to look nice and I like designer clothes. My hair is neatly cropped (no gel or wax for me!) and I have a good skincare routine (no sunbeds or fake tan just a good shave and moisturiser). I'm just a modern English gentleman.

I'm fine with that then. I can't stand the lager lout male culture- I love to cook, I like fine wine and I love shopping! And just to confirm I change my underwear twice a day.

I'll put myself at an average 5 and it can either go up or own depending on who's looking. Some people may think I'm a 1, others may think I'm nearer 9 or maybe even 10. :D

Research had shown that subconciously rate your appearance and when looking for a partner you are drawn towards people who you consider to be the same "number" as you. Apparantly you do not consider being in a relationship with anybody who you think is drastically higher or lower than you.

ALSO...slightly off topic but you are apparantly attracted to people who are similar looking to you. Has anybody else had couples for friends who over time seem to morph into each other???!

I'm an average kinda girl so i would give myself a 5/6... of a morning tho that is a different matter altogether :hihi: i would say i was definitely of a lower number... 2 :blush:

I do think tho that your mood can sometimes have an effect on the way you feel about yourself...

If you didnt have time to shower/dress the way you wanted to dress (due to being rushed) you can sometimes feel a right mess/scruff... i know i have done in the past an that can really bring you down...

But if your feeling real happy an feel comfortable in your appearance then i think you would be generous to yourself an rate yourself slightly higher :wink:

woooooooooooo jamie :) s'ok dont be so serious.....just wondered who were the posers of the forum ;) i dont think people should be judged by numbers but im sure everybody must at some point think if they are attractive, average, below average etc...

and i believe happiness can be about what you look like to some degree....i mean i feel a lot better about myself now then i did a year ago when i was not going to the gym at all....since i have gone out more, been able to relax more and talk to people more easily...because i dont feel quite as repulsive as i once did..

ok there are some people that have the brainset of `everything is great, how lucky am i, i feel brilliant, life is amazing, lets live for today' but maybe them people werent `odd, bullied or seen as different' when they were younger so confidence could grow.

thing is ... i totally believe that happiness is to be found inside yourself ... and the more you look outside ... the more happiness will elude you ... and if you think happiness comes from your looks ... when you one day grow old and 'ugly' ... will you also lose your happiness !?

not saying it's bad to look good and feel good about your looks ... it's great to be good looking ... so long as you have it all in perspective ... there is nothing worse than being up your own bum and thinking you're superiour cos you look nice.

one of the (considered) most beautiful flowers (could be orchid) grows out of crap ...

being "odd, bullied or seen as different" can be the crap that develops your character and makes you strong ... and makes you truely beautiful ... it all comes down to what you do with the crap that life throws at you.

perhaps people who have not gone through any kind of adversity in their life have not had the opportunites to develop 'character' ... which is the mark of a truely beautiful person.

I used to be prepared to go out with anyone who I found interesting and some [well two ,no sorry three of them were gorgeous by bloky standards]
Luckily [for girls] I've never found one that resembles me apart from my sister and she doesn't count as she's my little sister [fading memories of sibling warfare]

Depending on my mood, I can feel anything from a zero to a 9.

And when I feel like a zero you can bet I look it too. How attractive you appear is at least 50% self confidence.

Audrey Hepburn in "Breakfast at Tiffany's" is my beautiful control at a rating of 10.

Lindsay Davenport (tennis player) is my ugly control, rating 1.

Therefore I give myself 5 generally, but
3 if hungover,
6 if just had a haircut
9 if just been, erm, having fun with Mr Pussycat :heyhey:

3 is pretty good for hungover.

My drooling Audrey Hepburn is of a pure and spiritual nature. I mean ... she hardly as the kind of body that makes you wanna rip of her clothes and make like a rabbit !! (plz excuse my crassness once again).

Yet there is something very etheric and beautiful about her. I love her kindness and the way her inner light and her beauty shines through and her selflessness which seems so rare these days.

Both as an actress and a humanitarian with all the charity work she did ... seems to me she was an examplary human being.
