I forgot it was blue bin day this morning, and last time (4 weeks ago). My boyfriend refused to put it out as it 'would make him late for work'. I brought the bin out a few seconds too late and the men ignored me- they definitely clocked me but pretended they hadnt and carried on. Didnt have time to chase them as i had to get to work myself! Cant figure out who Im more annoyed with!

Anyway, where shall I take the 8 weeks worth of paper/cardboard i have collected? I cannot wait another 4 weeks with a kitchen full of rubbish, but refuse to give up my duty to recycle! Do all recycling sites (eg at supermarkets) have facilities for paper and cardboard? I dont normally tend to notice as i'm just dumping glass. Thanks

I take mine to the Co-op on Mansfield Road, they have both paper and cardboard. The cardboard does tend to get quite full by the weekend, i'm not sure what day they empty it

If you had taken the bin to the back of the lorry I'm sure they would have emptied your bin. You cannot expect them to reverse backwards in a large heavy vehicle.

Make sure you do not make an extra car journey when you take the cardboard to a supermarket recycling centre, as the extra pollution you will create will do far more damage to the planet than the good you would do in recycling cardboard. It might be better for the planet for you to put the next month's cardboard into your normal bin until your blue bin is emptied again.
When recycling, it is really important to do it intellegently or it is pointless. :)

you can ask for a second blue bin, we find on a monthly basis we create far more paper waste than the small bin will hold. I sent email to viola/onyx (or whoever they are calling themselvs today) I got a promt reply telling me there were no bins in stock and they would deliver me another as soon as new stock arrived. I leave extra out tied up and they seem to have no problem taking it, but its a pain having a garage full of paper waste all the time.
I find I fill my blue bin just with take away menus and free newspapers of one discription or another, then theres all the daily stuff, wrappers, papers and cardbord.

Not so.

We missed our collection a few weeks ago. The flats nearby (very nearby) were having their collection day. The bin wagon has to block our driveway to park up for this.

I went out and asked the men working, if I brought over our blue bins and waited and took them back, would they empty them? No, was the very emphatic answer.

So another months recycling went into the black bin.

Stuff 'em.

Why can't they reverse back - mine do as, they have to, I live in a cul-de-sac:confused:
