I am a student at Sheffield Hallam University studying Leisure Events Management with Tourism. I am in my final year and at present I am carrying out my dissertation.

My research topic is concentrating on The Moor as it has become apparent that it is desperate need for regeneration. I have read many articles and reports which concentrate on the development of commercial buildings and accommodation as a form of regeneration. I am interested as to whether festivals and events can play an important role to help regenerate the deprived area.

I would appreciate any views about my research topic or any ideas or events that you as residents or visitors would like to see in the area.

Thank you

It's obvoius what the Moor needs, it could be transformed so easily with the simple addition of another pound shop...

Problem solved!

Don't clap, just throw money.

I'm sure someone's said it before but I'd suggest either a complete start again or at least covering over combined with better/more parking. By that I mean car parks that don't smell of wee/make you feel you're going to be mugged.
Maybe some plants in the short term or a few more coppers moving no the riff-raff.
Perhaps moving some of the festivals/activities/markets that are occasionally held at Barkers Pool would indeed help, but for such an apparently large area there does seem to be a lack usable space.
