I know that there are plans to improve/modify the Moor soon and try and bring it "up-market", but can anyone confirm if parts of it are to be demolished entirely, especially at the London Road end?

Tony 27-02-2005, 19:03 Don't expect it anytime soon TBH. There is a masterplan and various ideas being thrown around, but nothing firm. foxy27 27-02-2005, 19:24 As Tony says a lot of ideas are being considered but so far nothing has been confirmed or isnt likely to be for a couple of years. Strix 27-02-2005, 20:33 Here's the plan so far: http://sccplugins.sheffield.gov.uk/urban_design/quarters_moor.htm press 'next' at the bottom of the page to see more info Captain_Scarlet 27-02-2005, 22:01 As always with Sheffield Master Plans, expect them to happen 20 years after the first drawings. gneighbour 28-02-2005, 00:28 This could be relevant: I heard a couple of the staff talking and apparently the lease on the Sharps vegetable shop is up this year, after 25 years. Could be handy for the council perhaps? Tony 28-02-2005, 08:03 It is always handy to not have to throw people out, but a CPO would be used regardless for the Moor scheme. Unforutnately, the length of time and lack of progress is largely down to a crap commercial property market in Sheffield. craigmason 28-02-2005, 08:11 its about time somthing was done to tidy up this area and encorage people to visit  just so long as they don't go overboard and make a mess of it Agent Gypo 28-02-2005, 08:56 My dads company is relocating due to the planned redevelopments of the areas surrounding the moor. The moor centre manager has told us the area behind the moor (earl way) is going to make way for a new shopping and markets district. cruella 28-02-2005, 08:59 The Moor has turned into the Bargain basement of sheffield...its a right dump. It will be welcomed to smarten it up. Get rid of a few pound shops too!!..sureley we are not all that skint in sheff! craigmason 28-02-2005, 09:05 just hope they dont demolish my three favorite shops moor fisheries on cumberland street (best chips in town) games workshop on fitzwilliam gate (best model shop in town) middletons on fitzwilliam gate (best aquarium store in the city centre ) Agent Gypo 28-02-2005, 10:12 Originally posted by cruella The Moor has turned into the Bargain basement of sheffield...its a right dump.
