http://webaccelerator.google.com/

don't use it - its buggy as hell - can't delete gmail's and can't get on a number of sites. You would have thought it would be compatible with gmail!

try messing with the Attenuators if you are on Virgin. I am on 20mb but in reality only got 11mb. After toying with the brown box outside on the wall and pulling off some 5db Attenuators i got full 20mb and and fixed the pixel issues on the TV, as that bad boy broke up all the time.

What are Attenuators? I'm getting just over 2mb but apparently I should be on 8

Are you on ADSL? Which ISP are you with?

they are little silver blocks added onto your Virgin cable either in the brown box on the outside wall or sometimes as well on the Modem or TV box.

Mine were bout inch and a half long with a big sticker on with like 5db wrote on it.

Phone 'em up and thell them that you are leaving as you have found a cheaper provider. My phone/bb/cable package is now £40 cheaper every month.

yes Virgin BB is now £20 a month on special deal, so get ringing and moan like a trooper.

Ignoring a couple of very niche options, you either have ADSL broadband (via a BT phone line) or cable broadband. Which is it? Alternatively, which company do you get your broadband from?

Cable broadband, I get my connection from virgin

Is it definitely Virgin Cable and not Virgin ADSL?
I thought cable offered more than 8MB.

So they say but when i checked my speed it was 2.1 & the maximum would only be 4.5 so I do not think it would make any difference to me.Or would it.

Are you certain you are with Virgin Cable and not Virgin ADSL? If you are with them for cable then you will more than likely have a Virgin phone line rather than BT. If you do have a BT line then it is more likely that you have ADSL which can be that slow on an 8mb connection if you are quite a distance from the exchange.

There is a patch for XP SP2 which will increase the speed of download. Basically in SP2 there is a physical limit imposed on the (and here I probably talk a load of spherical objects!) TCp/IP connections to 10. Downloading the patch will open them to 50. This has resulted in a MINIMUM increase in speed to me of 25% (on a BT line not cable).

The patch is EvID4226Patch223d-en and is available here - http://board.iexbeta.com/lofiversion/index.php/t55092.html. Just follow the instructions

Good luck!
