Hi,

Due to a great deal of anti-social behaviour I and my family have suffered for 3 years, and with me being ill (made worse by my surroundings) I have decided that the best option for me is to move house. I applied for medical priority, got refused, and Im awaiting a decision on an appeal. The housing officer was very abrupt and told me to get a social worker. I contacted social services, they cant help with rehousing, just care. I was going to exchange with someone but they let me down after Id started packing, not only that I wouldnt wish my neighbours on anyone! The situation cant be resolved by anything else but us moving, its the moving part I need advice on.

Is there anyone who can give me good advice to help me?

thanks in advance,

Lisa. :help::help::help:

Housing organisations prefer to resolve anti social behaviour by trying to tackle the cause. They should try to make your neighbours either change their behaviour, or move out of their home(s). How this is dealt with will depend on whether your neighbour is a homeowner or a tenant, and if a tenant, who their landlord is. As you have suffered for three years, surely by now there is some evidence of your neighbour's behaviour?

The council normally would only award medical priority when someone is unable to physically manage to live in their home any more. Even then, it can be a long process finding somewhere suitable. In cases of neighbour nuisance, the preference is usually to deal with the person(s) causing the trouble. Otherwise it just continues.

If you aren't getting any support or help from your housing officers, have you considered talking to your local councillor(s)? It's not a nice situation to be in, it causes so much stress and worry, but there's no simple answer or quick solution nowadays. Some people have little respect for their neighbours, and don't take any notice of how they are supposed to abide by their tenancy conditions. Even when neighbour nuisance and harrassment can be proved, getting the evidence required for court takes ages, and sometimes even then the courts won't evict.
