How many of these things can you remember, or relate to you... come on admit it!! most of these aren't relevant unless your a child of the 80's but still could be fun for older people :)

1.. Um Bongo, Um Bongo, They drink it in the Congo.
2.. You played with “My Little Ponies.“
3.. Friendship bracelets were ties that couldn't be broken.
4.. You ever read Nancy Drew.
5.. The Hardy Boys, The Babysitters Club, Forever or Sweet Valley High.
6.. You wanted to be on “Jim'll Fix It“.
7.. You wore one of those slap-on wristbands at some point...or heaven forbid one of those T-shirts that changed colour with heat (Global Hypercolour).
8.. You were upset when She-ra, Princess of Power and He-Man got cancelled
9.. You can remember watching Saved by the Bell.
10.. You even wore fluorescent-neon clothing... (if you can call it clothing!).
11.. You could break dance (ok, you wished you could).
12.. You remember when Amiga was a state of the art video game system.
13.. You remember M.C. Hammer.
14.. You can still sing the rap to “Fresh Prince of Bel Air“.
15.. You can remember when it was Jazzy Jeff and The fresh Prince and NOT just plain Will Smith!
16.. You own ANY cassettes.
17.. You have ever pondered on why Smurfette was the ONLY female smurf.
18.. My Little Pony, Gummy Bears and Transformers are familiar to you.
19.. You ever had a Swatch Watch.
20.. You believed that “By the power of Greyskull, you HAD the power!“
21.. With your pink (or blue) portable tape player, you sang to kylie and Jason!
22.. Partying “like it's 1999“ seemed SO far away.
23.. You were led to believe that in the year 2000 we'd all be living in space.
24.. You recorded songs off the radio with your boom box.
25.. Your arm was full of rubber bracelets.
26.. You wore those wide, colourful shoelaces.
27.. You never questioned why the A-Team were always imprisoned in places that had sufficient tools to build an armoured tank.
28.. You ever did the top toggle of your coat up around your neck without having your arms in the sleeves, and you knew you looked like a superhero.
29.. You remember watching a house inhabited by a jester, a pantomime horse and a woman who sneezed, and thinking that this was perfectly normal.
30.. You've ever had more than 10 sweets in a 10p mix-up.
31.. You could have got away with it if it wasn't for those meddling kids.
32.. You remember Fingermouse and Dangermouse (not forgetting his trusty sidekick Penfold!).
33.. You remembered Monster Munch when they were 10p.
34.. When 'Computer' Tennis, Pac-Man and Donkey-Kong ruled.
35.. You remember hearing the tune then running out to buy an ice cream cone on a warm summer night - 99's, screwballs or a cider lolly.
36.. You got up extra early, especially to watch Saturday morning cartoons.
37.. You remember Ant and Dec as PJ and Duncan.
38.. Water balloons were the ultimate weapon.
39.. It wasn't odd to have two or three “best“ friends.
40.. You remember when Snickers were Marathons and Starburst were Opal Fruits.
41.. You remember when 25p was decent pocket money and you'd reach into a muddy gutter for 10p.
42.. Important decisions were made by going eeny-meeny-miney-mo.“
43.. Scrapes and bruises were kissed and made better and taking drugs meant orange-flavoured chewable aspirin.
44..You called Going Live on 081 811 8181.
45..And you had your own Gordon the Gopher.

Well I can certainly realte to the 80s! I nearly shed a tear with happiness that someone else is as sad as me and reflects back in nostalgic wonder of how good it was then.

So boring as it may seem, I'm going to tell a few tales which relate to most of the points you wrote.#

'Um Bongo, Um Bongo, they dink in the congo.' was my favourite drink of the 80s and early 90s. I even made up this strange game to go along with the advertisment gimmick. I used to chase my sister shouting the very words and she would hide then when I found her I would have to say the words very loud and scare her. She would shreak and giggle and we'd start again. God I was bored.

My Little Ponies, got to love em' even when it was unspoken war when your best friend had the latest first. I only had a couple..Apple Jack and Shady....I think. Hmmm

Friendship bracelets were indeed a bond in the tight knit circles of the school playground, giving was just not the same as recieving...ahhh...Unfortunately as much as I tried to this day can I make one! Still bitter about this.

Nancy Drew - I HATED! I prefered Famous Five or Secret Seven...actually Enid Blyton was my Idol before I could see through the tinted glasses of sexism and stereotypes. lol.

Sweet Valley High - What can I say? was my LIFE for a few years...must hve got nearly all the books...when they made a tv series in the 90s I almost peed my pants! lol.

Slap on wristbands...had about 5. slapped em' on and off so many times they kept breaking...thought i was real cool with one of those babies on my wrist.

SHE - RA was and is a goddess! i didnt pretend to be her, I WAS her! this was the same for my cousin who was HE - MAN.

Saved by the Bell.....I remeber the first time I watched it, GOD!, I lusted after Zac soooo much! Oh well times change! I would also just like to add for the record that any attempts that were made to try and carry on making Saved By The Bell..like 'The New Class.' were crap and they could NEVER be the same!

Amiga's ruled, M.C.Hammer was top, I still know the rap to The Fresh Prince Of Bell Air and I do remember when Jazzy Jeff was there too! (I've actually spoke to him before! ) And Cassetts..had about 50! Gummey Bears were super cool and Transformers were the best to pretend play too.

'TRANSFORMERS ROBOTS IN DISGUISE'

I believed that 'The power in greyskull'

I did sing to Kylie and Jason on my portable tape player, I had a poster of them each too and kissed them both goodnight everyday.

My arm was ladened with plastic bracelets.Black usually, me and my friends used to cross them over and make them look connected. lol

I used to run around in the playground with just the top toggle of my coat buttoned. I always would be Bat Girl.

Scooby and monster munch were a great combo.

After a hard session of Pac Man on a really hot summers day, the ice cream van would tinkle his bell and me and my mates would walk miles till we found him, and he would make it soooo worth the while with and screwball or two. lol

Every Saturday morning I would get up about 5am to watch all the best toons, but my fave was TRAPDOOR. I think its only a 5 min show but it was well worth it.

PJ and Duncan ruled. So did Byker Grove when it was old skool.

Water ballons were fantastic, though my ma dint like me running in and out re-fuelling. ahhh

OPAL FRUITS WILL ALWAYS BE OPAL FRUITS! - enuff said!

eeny - meeny - miney - mo was good, but so was Ickle -ockle- chocolate - bockle! Can think of loads more - but wont name them.

Going Live 081 811 8181...lol..suprised I didnt have it on speedial. Never got through....funny that! hmmm

Well thank you for letting me have such a nice trip down memory lane and I'm sure I've bored you all, if you managed to the bottom of the page.

Talking of Nancy Drew, here's one for the girls - anyone remember the Judy Blume books - they were dead risque as a teenager, all about periods, kissing boys and wearing bra's.

The only title I can remember is "Hello God, It's me, Margeret" or summert. Any 80's girlies remember any of the others? I'm sure I read them all......

I still do 28! I've got a full length charcoal cashmere coat (which was hideously expensive but looks beautiful!) and have been known (more than once - and at work!) to just button up to top and pretend to be Professor McGonagle from Harry Potter!

Oh dear, it sounds so sad written down!

I read Blubber by Judy Blume (and yes, I am a boy! ) I also read books by a guy called Paul Zindel which I recall were quite similar!

Isn't gummy bear american [yanklish] for jelly baby? I only know this because of the simpsons, and you should be ashamed writing such a phrase in the city which gave the world bertie basset.

What about Sun Lolly - what a stupid thing that was, a sort of orange ice cream that was crimped into a wax paper thing like a wonky pyramid.
Which had a really silly advert jingle.

Sun lol - ly dup pu du
Sun lol - ly dup pu du
Sun lol - ly dup pu du
dirty ice for you [never worked out what that word was]

Judy Blume yep yep yep and wasn't 'Forever' the one that had schoolgirls across the country reading the bit where he puts aftershave on his willy and it stung.
Paula Zindel again very much the same. I never did Sweet Valley High, I kinda skipped straight to Sweet Dreams.
I wasn't born in the 80's but I recognise all the points made as I was a child in the 80's.
Top Of The Pops was pre-recorded on a Tuesday, Phillip Schofield was a children's presenter, neon and perms were cool and knee socks weren't.
Ra ra skirts and boots with tassles, white leather wasn't just for Birds Of Feather actresses, Grolsch bottle tops on trainers, baggy jeans.
Snow was a regular feature for at least a month solidly and summers were hotter than hot.
Bros, Wet Wet Wet, New Kids On The Block, Prince, Queen, King and Princess were all in the charts and Five Star wearing jumpsuits, Michael Jackson was just a great singer.
Love was Contagious and Tiffany and Vanessa Paradis were considered to have talent.
Knight Rider, Jim'll Fix It, Streethawk, The Fall Guy, CHIPS, Airwolf and The Adventure Game plus.... Robin Of Sherwood with Michael Praed/Jason Connory *drool*.
The royal weddings and birth of the princes were a huge deal.

I cant believe you missed out,Leather Box Jackets and Staypress Trousers, shopping at Harringtons in the Market and of course the famous Harrington Jacket.

The worst point is that Spangles,Texan Bars and Buzby from the BT ads was not included, also Rainbow Crystals (acid for kids) and sherbert fountains (proper ones).

Can you believe you can still buy Judy Blume books...?
You can get a specal deal on "Are you there God, it's me Margaret" when you buy it with "Deenie"!

Judy Blume (edited!) (http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/0330398083/qid=1109741586/sr=2-1/ref=sr_2_3_1/026-0152934-0480467)

7.. You wore one of those slap-on wristbands at some point...or heaven forbid one of those T-shirts that changed colour with heat (Global Hypercolour).

Oh lordy, I bought a shirt like that a few years ago in San Diego, where they are still fashionable. The thing is, it's hot enough there for it to actually change colour, it rarely happened in England.

In this country they change colour to reflect the fact that your nipples are engorged with blood and your armpits are basting in their own juices....... nice look

Not sure about one or two of them, but I am officially nearing the top of the hill me thinks!

If you add Lego, Star Wars, climbing trees, airfix models then you practically know my formative life story.

LOL! I haven't read a Judy Blume book for AGES. I think I used to have most of them anyway. The ones I didn't have I used to borrow off a friend. We used to swap whichever ones we didn't have. I'm not sure where mine are at the moment . I might have left them at my Mum's house! I'll have to have a look for them!

because she was a whore and they didnt need more than one female to repopulate the smurf's? :? or maybe all the women other than her were slaves and the smurfs aren't nice at all as they put women to work in the pits or something?

who knows, maybe we should ask the creator? lol

Bad news I'm afraid: I hunted everywhere last night for my Judy Blume books and I couldn't find them. So I rang my Mum to ask her if I'd left any books at her house and she said there was nothing there of mine anymore.. Looks like I don't have them anymore! It's possible I could have put them in one of those plastic bags to leave on the doorstep for charity.

Damn! The things you get rid of because you think you've grown out of them and then you realise several years later, you haven't grown out of them at all! I should have kept them for the nostalgia.

Just for the record... 36 here ;) yes, I'm a definite child of the 80's... lol

10p crisps were affectionately known as "scrubber bags of crisps" back then... Oooh, I used to love salt and vinegar Mammoth Bites and Thin Jims...

Remember the beer bottle penny sweets (except they were always 2p)? They were yum. Used to pretend we were drunk on them (and Bass Shandy)...

Wasn't Godon replaced by Edd the Duck at a later stage?

Edd The Duck bites your legs...
