Provider Guardians take it upon themselves to arrange for the health and welfare of those in their care, but they are also the most sociable of all the Guardians, and thus are the great nurturers of established institutions such as schools, businesses, churches, social clubs, and civic groups. Wherever they go, Providers take up the role of social contributor, happily giving their time and energy to make sure that the needs of others are met, that traditions are supported and developed, and that social functions are a success.

The Champion Idealists are abstract in thought and speech, cooperative in accomplishing their aims, and informative and extraverted when relating with others. For Champions, nothing occurs which does not have some deep ethical significance, and this, coupled with their uncanny sense of the motivations of others, gives them a talent for seeing life as an exciting drama, pregnant with possibilities for both good and evil. This seems like a right load of twaddle to me. I once did an interview where I had to spend half an hour answering questions like this on a computer, before being told that I'd passed but they could see that I was nervous in interviews.

Which I wasn't at all, I quite enjoyed them in a kind of strange way.

Many of the questions are two constricted for me, to have a yes/no answer. This kind of test is all about psychologists trying to make a name for themselves by finding patterns and groups which don't really exist.

I find mind to be uncannily accurate, even down to predicting that i'd have a job in a science/engineering related discipline and that my job is all to do with what i know.

If you think that the one you got isn't accurate, did you have a low score on any of the specific items, it might mean that you are borderline between two (or even more) of the groupings.

Same here. I've checked my profile on several different sites last year and every one categorised me as INTJ. The profile describes me perfectly (I've also read through other profiles to check for the "horoscope factor", but nope, I'm a definite INTJ).

Because I is used to describe the first trait, either E or I for Extrovert or Introvert. To remove the possibility of confusion N is used for iNtuitive and S for Sensing for the second trait.

How interesting......I'm now an INFJ.

10 years ago I did this test as part of my MBA and came out as ENTJ.

Now, having had a decade of what's best described as 'intense personal development' (i.e. getting the **** kicked out of me by life) I've noticed a change to INFJ.

The INFJ fits me like a glove - quite amazing!

Yeah, this makes a lot of sense to me.

Interesting thing is, I took the Myers-Briggs test about 15 years ago, and my profile has changed since then. Back then, I was borderline Feeling/Thinking (now I'm very definitely Feeling), and this time round I'm a LOT less Judgemental.

I think my development is heading in the right direction! :)

The Portrait of the Counselor Idealist (iNFj)

The Counselor Idealists are abstract in thought and speech, cooperative in reaching their goals, and directive and introverted in their interpersonal roles. Counselors focus on human potentials, think in terms of ethical values, and come easily to decisions. The small number of this type (little more than 2 percent) is regrettable, since Counselors have an unusually strong desire to contribute to the welfare of others and genuinely enjoy helping their companions. Although Counsleors tend to be private, sensitive people, and are not generally visible leaders, they nevertheless work quite intensely with those close to them, quietly exerting their influence behind the scenes with their families, friends, and colleagues. Social/Personal Relationships: ENFPs have a great deal of zany charm, which can ingratiate them to the more stodgy types in spite of their unconventionality. They are outgoing, fun, and genuinely like people. As SOs/mates they are warm, affectionate (l ots of PDA), and disconcertingly spontaneous. However, attention span in relationships can be short; ENFPs are easily intrigued and distracted by new friends and acquaintances, forgetting about the older ones for long stretches at a time. Less mature ENFPs may need to feel they are the center of attention all the time, to reassure them that everyone thinks they're a wonderful and fascinating person.

ENFPs often have strong, if unconvential, convictions on various issues related to their Cosmic View. They usually try to use their social skills and contacts to persuade people gently of the rightness of these views; his sometimes results in their negle cting their nearest and dearest while flitting around trying to save the world.

ENFPs are friendly folks. Most are really enjoyable people. Some of the most soft-hearted people are ENFPs.

ENFPs have what some call a "silly switch." They can be intellectual, serious, all business for a while, but whenever they get the chance, they flip that switch and become CAPTAIN WILDCHILD, the scourge of the swimming pool, ticklers par excellence. Som etimes they may even appear intoxicated when the "switch" is flipped.

One study has shown that ENFPs are significantly overrepresented in psychodrama. Most have a natural propensity for role-playing and acting.

ENFPs like to tell funny stories, especially about their friends. This penchant may be why many are attracted to journalism. I kid one of my ENFP friends that if I want the sixth fleet to know something, I'll just tell him.

ENFPs are global learners. Close enough is satisfactory to the ENFP, which may unnerve more precise thinking types, especially with such things as piano practice ("three quarter notes or four ... what's the difference?") Amazingly, some ENFPs are adept at exacting disciplines such as mathematics.

Friends are what life is about to ENFPs, moreso even than the other NFs. They hold up their end of the relationship, sometimes being victimized by less caring individuals. ENFPs are energized by being around people. Some have real difficulty being alone , especially on a regular basis.

One ENFP colleague, a social worker, had such tremendous interpersonal skills that she put her interviewers at ease during her own job interview. She had the ability to make strangers feel like old friends.

ENFPs sometimes can be blindsided by their secondary Feeling function. Hasty decisions based on deeply felt values may boil over with unpredictable results. More than one ENFP has abruptly quit a job in such a moment.

Interesting that, I have changed too, a few years back I was an INTJ and that fit pretty well, and now I'm an INFJ, and it is definitely the demands/experiences of life that has caused that shift.

I was on a management training course once and we did loads of these personality tests and I stuck out like a sore thumb - everyone else had these ambitious, driven personality types and I was the exact opposite, more interested in feelings and fun... it helped me decide that a management career wasn't for me and I left my job to go travelling... much better plan :-)
