Out of interest, where is Longley? I think of it as starting from behind the Northern General Hospital, stretching up Herries Road towards Hillsborough, and up Barnsley Road to Netto at Sheffield Lane Top before taking a left down that little road what's it called...

Anyway, that's where I imagine Longley to be...somewhere encompassing all of that!

Now, I don't want to start a Longley Hall Road is not in Longley thread, but I am interested in the history of North East Sheffield so I would like to know

Many thanks

The borders for the estates in S5 are a little blurred. Longley does not go all the way to Hillsbro though. As you travel along Herries road towards Hillsbro on the left is Shirecliffe and on the right is Longley but only as far as the bottom of Moonshine Lane. Sheffield Lane Top is Firth Park, and where the hospital is too, but the hospital is also bordered by Firvale. The road along the top of the hospital is Longley Lane and that is where Longley starts. At the top of the estate it is bordered by Southey Green Road. Coming up Herries Road from the hospital on the left is Norwood. Confused yet?I used to work as a taxi operator and S5 was a nightmare.
