Spent a few hours at a BMX track today, loads of pics taken as I experimented with blur by attempting panning and slow-sync flash usage.

Actually got some decent results amongst the 1.7Gb(!) of pictures which I'll share shortly...

Look forward to seeing them Dafoot - sorry I was too tired to join you!

Had a really good time at the BMX track today, for me it was a photographic learning session rather than a photo shoot, like dafoot said, experimenting with diferent settings to get the best results. This has to be the hardest thing I've tried to photograph, and that includes ice hockey and F1 racing cars! Respect to the riders, they make those bikes fly! I'm looking forward to returning and hopefully getting better results. Anyway a few pics for you to look at until I get time to put them in my album....

Some good stuff there hockeybear. I liked your fourth shot best myself - air.jpg. Plenty of space for him to move into and sharply outlined against the blurred background. Well panned!

Definitely number 4 - real sense of movement and speed. Great action shot.

My computer died badly over the weekend, so it may be a little while before I get mine up as I have to rebuild a working OS on a new drive :(

Nice pics, DaFoot - did you ever get No.2 down out of the trees? I liked No.5 as well tho isn't it cheating to flash while panning??? :D (It works tho I must admit!)

BTW what did you use to build your frozen banana web site? I had a peek into the code to see why some thumbnails jump when you mouse over them but backed out in a hurry - looks very 'machine generated'. :gag:

Yes, he came down in the end. Though I coulda sworn some of those guys had an invisible ET strapped to their bikes!

Some of the site is 'machine generated' some isn't. Makes putting pics up, managing albums and taking order so much easier than hand cranking albums prior to upload.

I wasn't aware of jumping thumping thumbnails... is it always the same thumbs or the ones on one edge?
EDIT: Do you mean the ones that move a pixel or two on mouse over? If so I think that's due to a:hover style that is applied, so that's my fault! Keep meaning to sort it, just never get round to it!

The aim is to get the pic... so no, it's no cheating :P:hihi:
