Can anyone recommend a celebrant, we are getting marrioed in the botanical gardens and the registrar cannot be booked for that day so we want to get a celebrant to conduct the ceremony for us. We dont want to pay over the odds for one, i have had a look on the humanist website which lists all the ones in the area but i would like to know if anyone has had a particularly good one nad how much it cost them
Thanks in advance
I've got to ask - whats a celebrant?
A celebrant is someone who can conduct a non religious service for you, be it a wedding, funeral or naming ceremony. Basically they will act as a registra in an unofficial capacity, so you also have to get married at an official ceremony too.

take a look at www. ceremoniesbydesign.co.uk for a Sheffield celebrant
We had a fab bloke named Gordon who was recommended by the Humanist Society- he did the ceremony for my sister and her hubby too.
I'm pretty sure that he's retired now though. You could contact the Humanist Society and ask them for whoever is working now.

Try Laurra at http://www.onelifeceremonies.co.uk/ She is lovely and I am sure she would be more than happy to help. Let us know how you get on x

Hi
Gordon is great but yes I think he may have retired now.
My husband, Robert Beard, conducts various types of ceremonies (he did the Humanist ceremony for Gordon's daughter last year). But you still do need to have an official registrar there or get married elsewhere first. Robert's email is arjay61@hotmail.com if you want to contact him.
