I thought this would be quite an interesting topic... Where did you all find the Sheffield Forum... How did you first come across it ? Someone at work asked me today how I found it, I for one honestly cannot remember how I came across it...can you ?

I was at work researching into the history and culture of Norfolk Park and stumbled onto it.
First postings to History and Expats, I think.

I did a Google search for 'devonshire green sheffield' just before the last Devonshire Festival and the first result it returns is - 'Giraffes on Devonshire Green - Sheffield Forum'.

Been keeping an eye on threads ever since!

Just searching in Google for a Forum related top Sheffield... and found one! :lol:

Foxxx introduced me to it. She found it when searching on Google for something else to do with Sheffield.

There was an article in the Sheffield Telegraph ages ago.

How about this: try and devise a 3 word search, not a string of 3 words, which brings up only one result and that result is a thread here.

If I remember rightly there were only 2 mods at the time you joined (not including Geoff) and I'll have you know it wasn't me. I don't even use usenet.

It was mentioned on Nick Margerrison's "Nick at Night" show on Hallam FM, and it was linked in his part of the Hallam FM website. That got me here.

Nomme told me about it.

Toby Foster was talking about it on Radio Sheffield - so I had to come and have a nosey. And here I am!

On my search engine I typed 'places in SHEFFIELD FOR UMbrella repairs'. So busy on the forum, my umbrella is still leaking.

I think I was searching for The Forum in Sheffield (the bar) and a link to this Sheffield Forum came up, or a posting link about it - can't remember which.
Now I notice when I search in Google, Sheffield Forum crops up in list of websites quiet often.
Glad I stumbled across it tho'.
1. When I'm bored at work I can nip on and find out what's hapening
2. Although some of your threads are a bit heavy going (you know who you are, and that half of it goes over my head - or maybe straight in one ear and out the other?), loads of them are funny and informative; and they're usually (was gonna say always but would be fibbing) friendly.
3. Metro newspaper doesn't always have all listings for whats going on, so loads more places to add to my list of possible things to do. (Can't always be bothered tho :rolleyes: )
4. I've met some of you, and had a great time every time, and made some new friends too

Think that's about enough. (Just waffling on a bit coz don't get time when I sneak on at work)

Still, i'm glad he did, i've had many a chuckle from the posts here, and despite some of the more argumentative people (*cought020cough* j/k) i've always found everyone really friendly.

Googled and found it, I use some Sheffield united forums too, but this is good for general stuff

I googled for something, absolutley no idea what I was looking for now though. I was a lurker for ages then we found a lost dog on the Wadsley Common, joined up to post and see if he belonged to anyone, not been able to stop posting since.

I also googled something to do with sheffield, probably accomodation and found this forum, never really used it until i got a job in sheffield and out of curiosity searched for my workplace on here. After that i lurked for quite awhile and then at some point decided to join and start posting. I've found this forum to be extremly helpful and there are some lovely people on here. It's also the only forum i go on.

When I went online I imagined becoming a virtual citizen of the world, with new friends on every continent... then I found this (another googler) and now spend my spare time chatting to locals! (and a few token expats and outsiders, of course). I visit other forums half-heartedly, but this is the only one where I feel part of the community.

Found out through my fella's uncle. Since then never used any other forum, this is the place to be rofl :heyhey:

I was introduced to SF a few years ago by Agent Orange..(he was Dick Dastardly back then)
We used to chat on another site.
He was running a marathon and he asked me to sponsor him,and his thread and link to his sponsor site were on SF..
So I signed up here so I could post on his thread, and sponsor him..
We lost touch, and I never gave this place another thought until about 18 months or so ago when I was looking for another job..

I was introduced to SF by another forummer. I was on here for 6 months as a user (I spent a fair amount of that time being roundly abused for some reason) and then was aksed to become a Mod. I guess that geoff thought that I may as well be abused for a reason. :D
