I thought this would be quite an interesting topic... Where did you all find the Sheffield Forum... How did you first come across it ? Someone at work asked me today how I found it, I for one honestly cannot remember how I came across it...can you ?

Yep. I found it online!

Sorry...

I was at work researching into the history and culture of Norfolk Park and stumbled onto it.
First postings to History and Expats, I think.

I did a Google search for 'devonshire green sheffield' just before the last Devonshire Festival and the first result it returns is - 'Giraffes on Devonshire Green - Sheffield Forum'.

Been keeping an eye on threads ever since!

I don't remember either, I think it was just mindless googling.

How about this: try and devise a 3 word search, not a string of 3 words, which brings up only one result and that result is a thread here.

I found it when one of the naughty mods posted a link to here in a couple of the usenet groups I read. I can't quite remeber who it was but I have a shortlist of 2. It might even have been both of them in separate groups.

I think I was searching for The Forum in Sheffield (the bar) and a link to this Sheffield Forum came up, or a posting link about it - can't remember which.
Now I notice when I search in Google, Sheffield Forum crops up in list of websites quiet often.
Glad I stumbled across it tho'.
1. When I'm bored at work I can nip on and find out what's hapening
2. Although some of your threads are a bit heavy going (you know who you are, and that half of it goes over my head - or maybe straight in one ear and out the other?), loads of them are funny and informative; and they're usually (was gonna say always but would be fibbing) friendly.
3. Metro newspaper doesn't always have all listings for whats going on, so loads more places to add to my list of possible things to do. (Can't always be bothered tho  )
4. I've met some of you, and had a great time every time, and made some new friends too

Think that's about enough. (Just waffling on a bit coz don't get time when I sneak on at work)

like many others, RPG introduced me to this site, though i use it more for the chatroom (something RPG whines about).

Still, i'm glad he did, i've had many a chuckle from the posts here, and despite some of the more argumentative people (*cought020cough* j/k) i've always found everyone really friendly.

Thanks Geoff for the forum, too. Glad someone cared enough to make it.

I used it to find accommodation.. did I spell that right weeni? ;) when I was moving back from Newcastle. Its useful to find out whats going on, and generally have a bit of banter. Though it does amaze me how some people have over 10, 000 posts :o

I was introduced to SF a few years ago by Agent Orange..(he was Dick Dastardly back then)
We used to chat on another site.
He was running a marathon and he asked me to sponsor him,and his thread and link to his sponsor site were on SF..
So I signed up here so I could post on his thread, and sponsor him..
We lost touch, and I never gave this place another thought until about 18 months or so ago when I was looking for another job..
I did a google search for jobs in Sheffield and the link for this place popped up, so I had a look and have not been away since...:D

I was looking for websites on half monkey half human freaks with the manners of pigs and It directed me to this forum.
And to my horrible other half jabberwocky.

i should have just looked over my shoulder and saved google the trouble of searching

We love you and bow to your esteemed patience for kicking the Jabbers into touch:D

Luckily and too my relief, my naming wasn't too bad :hihi:
Lucky sod! :hihi:
Actually, a lot of people I know have heard of the SF too. The forum's reputation proceeds itself. I can now understand why it has that public social tone to it all.

You're going to have to behave now!

I was introduced to SF by another forummer. I was on here for 6 months as a user (I spent a fair amount of that time being roundly abused for some reason) and then was aksed to become a Mod. I guess that geoff thought that I may as well be abused for a reason. :D

MY dad is a member and I only ever used to look at other people's posts. Though occasionally because our computer was logged in as my dad his posts were really mine, so I thought I ought to get my own username. Which I never used hardly for about 1-2 years now I've got the forum bug............it's quite an addiction.

discovered it a few years ago but never bothered with it then all of a sudden I found myself addicted to what was being discussed daily, I enquire about things I need to know about etc and even stumbled upon the most wonderful man ever! :hihi:

We were out on friday and toasted to SF for bringing us together!! We like each other lots, get on famously and I have to say I have fallen head over heels with his fantastic cooking and wonderful personality!!!! :hihi:

So, here's my thanks to that bloody singles thread I so innocently added myself too way back in May!
