Hello, I'm planning a trip up there soon (all on lonesome as my mtn biking friends live in other places).
Advice, links, maps very welcome, please.
I think there's a x country track - do you go clockwise or anticlockwise? I'm fairly familiar with the woods but never biked it before.
Also - cycle friendly way from Chapeltown to wharnecliffe would be extremely appreciated as Pennistone road is a b**tard for cyclists.

Yep. Shame its not got facilities there. Real let down. A Cafe with loos would've been a good idea down there

There are several pubs in the area within a mile which serve food, just because there is no cafe does not make it a bad mountain biking location.
Strangely enough I didn't voice an opinion on the location, just the lack of facilities. Doesn't make life ver comfortable if you need the loo and are miles from local pubs who don't necessarily look kindly to you just popping in (if you make it in time) to use their facilities. I know, lets spoil a great bit of biking and travel over a mile to go the the loo etc. Oo and the nutty old man down there.

No need for a cafe, get a bag pack up some lunch and bottles of water or get a camelbak your fine, need the loo depending on what you want, there's plenty of trees and hidden spots if it's other then I'm afraid you will just have to hang on. ;)
