Has anyone experienced the Blue Water Syndrome affecting new houses in the Totley area and other new estates?

This is where inferior copper piping has been used in the construction of new houses. This causes the water to look blue and eventually runs clear.

I've heard the people running the bodge up repairs are making a hash of moving people out for 3 weeks at a time. What are your views on this situation?

I thought most new builds were done with push fit plastic pipes and fittings?

Yes, you would have thought that would have been the plan.

The replacement piping will be all plastic.

It would appear that it is not actually the copper piping causing the discolouration but the flux used in the joints (http://www.dwi.gov.uk/consumer/concerns/copper.shtm) .

I thought copper was used due to it's non-reaction with the water (oxide coating playing a part)
