I'm thinking of trying out spinning on weekday evenings and I was wondering if anyone has any experience of the sessions currently available in sheffield's gyms. Ideally I'd like to be able to try for a few sessions on a 'pay on the night' basis without having to join the gym.

I've looked at the website of a few gyms and found classes at Esporta gym on Abbeydale road:
http://www.esporta.com/Health+Clubs/North/Sheffield/ and also at Hillsbrough leisure cente: http://www.fitnessunlimited.co.uk/pages/153/hillsborough_leisure_centre.html

Anyone got any experience / advice?

If its your first time take it easy early on in the session or you may find you are to out of breath to carry on till the end.

Its a great form of excersise and you feel awesome afterwards.

Esporta is currently the best gym in Sheffield imo although its not cheap approx £60 pounds a month but you dont have to pay extra for the spin class, great instructers and all newish equitment.

They will probably let you try it out without joining if you ask at reception as the company is struggling and judging by the amount of mail I get needs new members!

Never tried the fitness unlimited class at hillsborough but I am an unlimited member for ponds forge and the new gym they are building looks awesome.

There is a spinning class every weekday evening @6 or 6.15 (and Sat mornings) at Concord and you don't have to be a member to do a class, just pay for each session.
I tried it out a few times last year and enjoyed it, even though it was such hard work but I find it difficult to get there so early now.
