RunningFree 24-02-2005, 08:32 Does anybody know whcih is the best place to get blank DVD-R from in Sheffield?
I know I can get them cheap off the internet but can't be bothered to wait for delivery. Any suggestions, please put rough prices.

Mark
The sell them at ASDA, I can't remember the exact price but I remember thinking they were very cheap.
Also, try Poundland, or any cheapo shop, there are loads of them in town.
RunningFree 24-02-2005, 08:50 Looking for them in spindles.
You mean the big stacks of them with no cases ?
RunningFree 24-02-2005, 09:19 yes thats what I mean.
segasonic 24-02-2005, 11:34 Try PC Medics on Halifax Road, I got my last batch of 100 4x Ritek G04 white tops for 25 quid a few months ago, I recommended them to my mate the other day and he came back with 100 Arita 4x (Ritek G04 dye) branded discs for £25.
Decent bunch of blokes in there and excellent prices all round.
Just had a quick look and PC World do 100 for £17.50, thats a hard price to beat.

Are you sure that's not for CDs? I find it hard to believe such a low markup for PC World.
micksheff 24-02-2005, 12:05 The computer shop at bottom of moor near staples, get the Ritek G04, you cant go wrong.

imation or other brands.
work perfect. all in thick jewel cases.
fudpucker 24-02-2005, 16:05 you can get 100 for £12.99 from ukdvdr, i think and they deliver in two days so by time you'd read a few reviews they'd be at yer door mate.
Been hunting for ages for cheapo dvd's and they're about the cheapest you can get :-)
goldenfleece 25-02-2005, 16:49 Yes I recommned UKDVDR, superb service and they are really the cheapest place online with ultra fast delivery. Look at their web site for the great special offers as well as you can get some killer branded disks in spindle packs for as little as 17 pence per disk........keeps me happy all right.....dont go paying fancy shop prices just buy online......

By the time you have paid postage and v.a.t. it bumps the price up by apprx£8.00 though.I still recommend copycatz if you have the time and transport(if you live outside r'ham)
RunningFree 25-02-2005, 19:24 I have actually bought some from UKDVDR and yes they are really cheap. next day delivery (working). P&P seemes to be £6.00 standard but I asked people at work if thye wanted any and it knockeds it down.
Pretty good.
I have just bought 100 dvd+r from ukdvdr and they dont work on my dvd recorder. I have sent them an email and they tell me there will be nothing wrong with them its just that some dvd recorders can be a bit tempremental and will only record on certain discs. They say they will take them back but as I only paid £11.91 for them I cant be bothered messing about packing them and finding a carrier
so I will give them away. That is the trouble with buying mail order.
I bought some from the little shop at side of staples (mentioned earlier) and they work perfect.

Is it a PHILLIPS DVD recorder? They are VERY fussy about cheap disks, I had a Philips recorder and got rid. I now use the Panasonic E50 DVD-R recorder which seems to be happy with any old cheap disks.......
Not Philips it is a Liteon, never heard of it before but read some good reports. As I said some other discs (bulkpaq 8xspeed) work without any bother.
alchresearch 26-02-2005, 17:08 I've got a Liteon DVD drive at work and had no problems. Have you tried:
a) Dropping the write speed
b) Doing a firmware upgrade
Will try dropping the write speed but dont know how to do a firmware upgrade. Heard things about it but how to do it.
RunningFree 27-02-2005, 08:40 I have a Pioneer DVD Writer. Its what all the shops recommended at the time. I have had no problems
RunningFree 27-02-2005, 08:41 Also, did you make sure you bought the right dvds? -R or +R - that makes a difference
I bought + R but from what I have read either should be OK. As I have said before I also bought some DVD+RW and they are OK. I have only just had a good look at the RW discs and they are Bulkpaq the others than won't write ar another make, I had some Bulkpaq DVD-R and they work OK so I shall have to stay with those I got them from the little shop at side of Staples so I will take a journey down there and get 100 they will keep me going for ever.
