Late last year, and against my better judgement, I agreed to let a friend of a friend build me a new PC.
Now, there are 2 log-ons, me and admin. So far so good -security etc. However, whenever I'm surfin' as myself and want to download summat I get the usual 'access denied' (I get enough of that at work - certainly don't need it at home).
So, after logging off, re-logging on as admin., re-connecting to the 'net etc. I can download stuuf, re-install my printer, camera etc. etc. etc.
However, when I'm using the computer as myself (thought that's why they were called personal computers...) none of this stuff is appearing under START...All Programs. I know they're there in my program files folder, just can't launch them without logging off, re-logging................
Apart from ordering the guy who built it to "put it right" (He'd only solve one problem and cause six others), can anyone suggest a solution to my predicament? Ta muchly.

- when installing programs, there is often an option "Install for only me" or "Install for Everyone" - you some times need to go via the 'Custom' installation option though, and obviously, you should select 'Everyone'

however, there are a few other options you could do..

1) transfer all your 'my documents' etc to the admin account, delete yours, and use that
2) make your account an administrator, and copy the administrators start menu from C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Start Menu

Quick suggestion straight off the top of my head - start the computer up in safe mode and log in using the Administrator account thats there.
Delete your personal account and also your local/personal profile ( My Computer\Local Disk C: \Document and Settings and delete the folder with your name on it )
Restart the computer again in Safe Mode - use the Administrator account to log in and then re-create a personal account for yourself. Hopefully then, any changes you make whilst logged on as yourself will stick

dont just do that, as you would loose all your my documents etc... you would have to back up your documents, music, pictures etc FIRST
