Our heating has stopped :(.....The water heating side of the boiler is fine, but the pump that works the heating smells like burning and smoke came off it. I think its a loose wire in the unit.

Sounds stupid, but would that be a sparkies job, or would you ring a heating engineer??

Just to recap water and boiler fine, pump gave off smoke and then noticed a green wire in the unit is not connected to anything. Im guessing that is the earth....would this stop the pump kicking in?>??

thanks :)

if the earth wire is not connected try not to touch anything! Call a plumber!

Hello and thanks to everyone who replied. We got a sparkie round and have been told to try replacing the pump, which we're trying now. DIYNot.com was really helpful thanks, so we'll see if this works

Cheers all
