I've never been that good at footy and recently I've played more of it than ever before thanks to the 9 yr old in my life who's footy crazy. This is only little knock-abouts in the park though.

Today my workmate told me he's looking for people to join a 5-a-side team he's setting up so like a gullible chuff I said why not just for the laugh. Having not played a competitive game of footy since school I'm wondering what I'm walking into here. With it being 5-a-side I'm expecting it to be quite fast-paced as there's no corners or throw-ins etc. There's also been talk of the occasional injury and possible punch-ups if things get a bit heated due to dodgy tackles etc. :hihi:

Can anyone share their experiences? :)

Five aside footy is fast and hard at times!! i think there a high risk of injury in five aside, and theres always a big chance of a punch up:hihi::hihi: BUT as i always say "footballs a mans game"

Hey
I used to run a team over at Pitz Soccer (Woodburn Rd)
We played every Sunday evenin/night.Although we were very sucessfull in the end it was a real hard struggle. Not just the hard tackles and the obvious carpet burns but managing to get the players to turn up..It was getting more and more expensive to play. When we 1st started it was just under £15 a game. The last i heard it was over £25. Now when only 4 of you turn up and you can manage to grab a stray player from the pitch side it turns out to be a lil expensive..All in all its a great game.. If you are all over 35 try to get into a over 35's league as you could end up playing teenagers and beleive me its no fun running round for 45 mins after some 17 y/o wannabe Ronaldo. Also play in the evenings as its murder in the summer.(the sand comes to the surface in dry spells)

Hmm, I'm 32 and my mate is 29 so we wouldn't qualify for the over 35s....dammit! Looks like we're going to have to deal with the kiddies for a bit. Although from the sound of it they'll be dealing with us. :hihi:

Looks like it's not going to happen after all. He got very drunk at a house-party at his mate's place the other night and made a complete pratt out of himself in front of everyone including a few of the lads he was going to ask to be in the team. Now he's too embarrassed to bring the subject up. :hihi:

I guess that's the end of that. :(
