Have any of you tried any Text to Speach software? I was wondering if it was any good as a way of finding out how your punctuation sounds from another perspective.

They're all pretty robotic... but if you go to www.absolutewrite.com and search in the forums you should be able to track down a discussion about this. Some time last autumn, I think. Probably in the Round Table.

Yes, some text to speach engines are very poor, like Microsoft Sam. He makes the Clangers look like after dinner speakers. However, there is one now. www.cepstral.com that are actually rather good. I am tempted to buy one of them but I will have a think first.
