...if so:
1) what measures have you taken to try and protect your property?
2) were there any agencies (environment agency, yorkshire water, council) that were able to assist you.
3)were you able to claim on your insurance for any problems.
4)who did you get to do the work for you.
can you offer any advice to me?
many thanks,
x

I can lend you a dehumidifier but guessing your problems are worse than that!

I Think I Know Someone Who Lives Near You Whose Cellar Flooded During The Last Flooding. I'll Ask Her When I See Her Next Week What She Did.

I occasionally get water in my cellar. Basically it is a fact of life in many places in the city and something you have to get used to. The houses were built like this. Due to the hills there are many underground springs which start and stop.
You need to make sure you don't keep anything in your cellar which will spoil (carpets, cardboard boxes, paper etc ) if it gets damp and make sure that your cellar is well ventilated so the damp does not get too bad.
I once got the environmental health in to make sure it was not sewer water and they took a sample for analysis and confirmed it to be springwater.
By the way the seven hills thing is a myth, we have 7 rivers!
i've recently (in last 6 months) done several cellar jobs installing a pump.
it involves digging a hole in the floor for the pump to sit in then running a pipe outside to a gully.
PM me if you would like a quote.

i did think we got the short straw when you compare our weather to rome! :)
thanks for reply dan2802, at the moment it hasnt been confirmed as groundwater....im still waiting for a reply from yorkshire water about testing for means leaks.
i dont know if theres even enough to pump it out though as it seems to be disappearing out somewhere, but having spoken to the neighbours, it doesnt seem to be into their cellar- which is a relief.
