View Full Version : Any good kickboxing schools?
Hi there hope all is well.:)
Iv been trying to find a good kickboxing school in sheffield, but the majority of schools seem to only have classes for adults that are 1 hr long, so by the time you have warmed up its over and i need more time to get fully into the training.
So does anybody kmow a school that trains for 2 or more hrs?
If the school has a web link please input the link so i can have a look please.:)
1 hour is plenty mate, as you say most clubs do 1 hour, if your training hard that should be enough.
Craig.

for me 1hr isnt enough, sure you get a sweat on and become out of breath, but it doesnt do anything for being able to push your self in terms of endurance and stamina.
You could try a club who do back to back , ie 1 hour KB, 1 hour conditioning etc.
Hope this helps.
Craig.

2Hours training? AFK do a class on a monday which is 2 hours lon, 630-830pm
But be warned ! Attend the 2 hour class at your own risk!!!
It is not a class for weak mortals.
We also do a Class from 7-830pm on a friday, there is sparring after that so sometimes we carry on for longer. Once again I must warn you that sparring at our gym is not for the feint hearted and you could end up finding yourself being schooled by a teenager , mind you sparring on fridays is totally up to you, if you want you can use the bags while the more experienced members spar.
You want to train 2 hours, but only want to pay for 1 :hihi:
Good luck , I hope you find what your after,
Craig.

How much do you think you should pay for a good 2 hour training session?
mr_busdriver 02-02-2008, 10:30 Think you will be lucky to get a 2 hour training session on the cheap. Think the running costs of most training establishments/insurances etc... is not cheap these days, so probably £5 for 90 minutes is reasonable these days.
There are different martial arts classes for different needs/levels, some easy, others where the instructor gives it to his students hard.
Try the clubs mentioned, I'm sure an hours training will meet your needs, its not like doing an hour in a gym

This is the first decent post you have on here Mr Bus Driver.
Yes he is right, asking for more than one hour for £5 is downright cheeky.
In my club , anyone who wants to train for 2 hours :
1. Does so because they need to (i.e. if they are a Full contact fighter NOT a weak mortal :P)
2. PROVES they have the right to be training in the same class as these Full Contact fighters. We have had many high grades and Black belts from other clubs come and pay us a visit, first i point them towards my beginners classes THEN after a few sessions (might even be after only one in the RARE occasion they can actually defend themselves in sparring :hihi:) i will let them have a go at the classes where the fighters train with the comment "dont say i didnt warn you " or " its been nice knowing you".
Davemantis 05-02-2008, 11:32 asking for more than a one hour class for £5 isn't cheeky.
alot of schools do £5 for 90min class just depends on what you get in the class and who is training you :hihi:
not on a kickboxing note my classes are only £5 for 90 to 120min classes and i only have about 6/8 people a time in the classes.
Craig is right.
An hour is long enough for normal folks.
Not only that but above an hour I found it hard to remember all I was taught.
www.wickercamp.com - Thai boxing as opposed to Kickboxing, in my opinion the best gym ever. I do about 1 3/4 hrs on mondays and wednesdays, and 3 hrs on tuesdays and thursdays. There are bagwork classes in the mornings as well, if you pay monthly you can save money and use the weights room as well. Get in touch, 1st lesson is free!
How much do they charge for the bag work sessions at wickercamp?
afhussain 06-02-2008, 20:42 Edit: Sorry the bagwork sessions cost the same as normal sessions. ie im a junior so i pay £3.50. If your a working adult you pay £5 and £4.50 if your unwaged.
