Husband's gone over Winnats this morning, it's snowing/hailing like mad in Stockport. Woodhead has an overturned lorry, weather is atrocious over t'other side of Pennines, mobile signal is not stable.
Husband's advice is, "If you don't need to travel this way then stay at home, he wishes he had!"
jinnertomcat 31-01-2008, 07:09 Woodhead Pass is closed to high sided vehicles due to strong winds according to radio
SHIREGREEN.
gales, hail, rain.
hubbys taking the kids to school this morning and they all look like they are of for a trek in the south pole bless them.
metalman 31-01-2008, 07:53 I'm soaked, cold and miserable, so I'd just like to thank our wonderful council bosses who make me park my car a mile away from where I work, just for my own good of course. I shall be thinking of them as I sit here in my wet clothes all morning, and again tonight when I make the return trek; and I'm sure they'll be thinking of me as they get out of their Mercs in their private free car park and struggle the 2 yards to the door of their offices.
alchresearch 31-01-2008, 07:53 The Woodhead Pass is now closed.

:hihi: i made my OH take our daughter this morning too, i'm not venturing out there!
Over the other side of t'Pennines the weather's improving but, it's very windy still.
If you're thinking of venturing over, Woodhead is now closed, Winnats is O.K., M62 very dodgy due to the strength of the winds and the lorries who travel whatever the weather, take care and only go if you really have to!

Walked down from Ecclesall to Millhouses this morning to get to work and I am soaked, wind rain hail so you should thank your lucky stars that you have a car at all!
Walkley here - it's btter than it was when I got upat 8am, when it was winding, raining and generally unpleasant!
Brightning up now, still breezy, not raining.
pinkgirl 31-01-2008, 08:34 Near Birley here, so windy and wet, also hailed
on the way home from taking daughter to school
Hope Valley seems a bit calmer than it was earlier. Still quite a wind out there though so wrap up if coming this way.
City Centre (or near enough) dull, grey, blustery winds and occasional spots of rain.
