Ok I need to find some kind of excercise that I enjoy - I need to lose weight and tone up, I'm getting married at the end of the year, but I also need to energise myself as I'm stuck in a rut and v lethargic at the mo. The problem is I cant find anything what motivates me enough - a friend doing an activity would but all my mates live a bit far away for a regular thing. I'm not one for the gym, and money and childcare are an issue. I used to go burlesque dancing which I loved, but I started suffering terrible back problems and havent been since. I also got lazy with the cold dark nights and couldnt drag myself out when the classes were held :( I should have dragged a mate along but the above problems stopped me....and I didnt fancy taking my mum :hihi:
Anyone have any ideas what I could / should do.......other than winning the lottery and hiring a fit bloke as a personal trainer...? :hihi:
Oh it has to be in the north Sheffield area, preferably around high green or chapeltown

I'd commend swimming to anyone. Whatever you do, don't go mad and be aching in agony. Start gradually and build it up but do something that you can enjoy. You'll feel better in yourself and once it gets going and you feel more energetic you can add an activity class to your list. Aqua-aerobics class?

yeah I like swimming, and Chapeltown baths is ideal. Mind you the motivation factor is still there - I'd go a couple of weeks and then give up  I need a swim buddy lol

You need to find something you enjoy doing. I was stuck in a rut a couple of years ago, and then got talking to some people doing a display of historical fencing at the Sheffield Fayre and ended learning how fight with rapier, sabre and cutlass. Great fun, and a good way to get fit as well. I've also started learning Japanese weapons too at the Northern Martial Arts Academy, which is a good contrast.
