Can anyone recommend a good vets? sooz22 29-01-2008, 16:43 Anita & Rob at Hunters Bar neuter all our Does and Anneke at Broomhill castrates all our bucks :) History man 29-01-2008, 16:59 Thanks very much for your help. Do they offer any post-op treatment, heat mats etc? sooz22 30-01-2008, 00:41 Broomhill provide Metaclopromide (gut stimulant), Rimadyl (NSAID) and I *think* Baytril (abx) post-op and Hunters Bar provide Metaclopromide, Vetergesic (opiate painkiller) & Baytril post op. Both do pre & post op check-ups. All animals are given necessary homeostatic support post GA and full care sheets are provided. Broomhill offer the option of keeping the rabbit in until he has started to eat voluntarily again and will try to syringe feed before sending him home otherwise. In my experience there is less of a problem with post-op anorexia in bucks than there is in does. Neither recommend 'fasting' before the op (as per RWA guidelines) and both have plenty of experience. Broomhill charge £45 for a castration and Hunters Bar about £55. I would also get his teeth checked thoroughly whilst he is under GA to look for any potential future (or current) problems. |
