We are a software development company who are always on the look out for new, talented software developers. Traditionally we would interview graduates who had completed an appropriate course.
Increasingly we are finding this route restrictive and have decided to hold a couple of Saturday workshops where 16 to 18 year olds who are interested in software development but not interested in going to University could come along and meet some developers and learn what skills are required to work in this industry.
Those who attend could demonstrate their skills, no matter how much or little they know, and could participate in a workshop with trained developers writing simple code to assess how much they understand about code development.
The workshops are free but participants need to register at workshops@maxnet.co.uk Depending on the interest shown will determine the number of workshops held.
Ultimately we are looking to employ suitably talented young people to train as software developers in our organisation.
Let me know what you think of this approach?
