We have just finished digging up the backgarden and hubby has laid new flags etc after wheeling 10 ton of sand and lime, top soil and all the flags etc through the house. We now have a nice area left to turf and was wondering when the best time is to look at laying it. One garden centre told us May and another said mid march is best.

Mid March or late September I was told. Did mine a couple of years back in early September and just watered it well in an evening and first thing (7am!) in a morning.
Still going strong!

After we have had the last frost, when they start selling bedding plants would be a guide.

Thanks folks that's brilliant:)
i get my turf from SKYES LAWN TURF, they say you can lay all year round, just put 61square metres down today.
you have just got to check the weather so you can prep the ground, wanted to do this job monday but had to wait due to frozen ground!
may have a few rolls free, will know tomos, ring me on 07866296687 if you want em.
cheers simon.
We've put 40 sq m down in the past couple of weeks and it's doing really well. Grass is tough stuff.

Well we bought and laid some stadium turf from the garden centre on Thursday after spending a couple of days preparing the area it was to be laid on - just hope it will now be o.k after the snow we've had.
