looking nice now isnt it :D:D:D
Hey,
I think I would try loads of different climbers, this way you will have season round flowering, as well as lots of different flowers to look at.
I’d go for:
Honeysuckle – lots of different types, pinks, yellows and also very fast growing, birds will love this and maybe even nest in it if dense or secure enough.
Wisteria – very slow growing but they can be massive! Will need to check the aspect of the wall (south, north facing etc)
Alpine Clematis – spring flowering, usually not very big, I have clematis willy, lovely pink lantern shaped flowers.
Summer flowering Clematis – larger flowers and usually grows larger
Jasmine – a few different varieties, white, double white, pink and yellow winter flowering. Also provides lots of dense foliage.
Passion flower – depending on if you fancy something exotic. Also comes in a few different colours.
Ivy – be careful, they’re very fast growing and take over. However they do provide lots of much needed nectar and berries over winter/spring, also birds will nest in it if dense enough, just make sure you keep it under control.
I saw this Clematis on Holy Island and was amazed, it was the most beautiful and amazing clematis I’ve ever seen! I definitely want one! It’s huge though and will definitely cover your wall…

oh thats great advice and when can you plant these clematis plants then ?
I think you can usually plant them whenever you want, check some online websites, they should tell you information, I think it depends on whether you get spring/summer flowering etc.
Here's a good link from the BBC with loads of different varieties that'll flower in all the seasons to give constant interest [:

Btw, as this link doesn't suggest the best time to plant, I'd say it probably isn't a problem when you decide to... But you might want to check that.
remember, they like the base of the stem to be sheltered, to prevent clematis wilt, you can put stones around the base

to prevent clematis wiltAlso when planting, bury the plant so the stem is at least 6" below the soil level.
.
right thankyou
i am going to get back on track now with the garden as the weathrs picking up
im still not sure about planting them though yet as i havent that much money and dont want them too die :(
also where will be the best place to buy them from ?
Hey,
Snow is forcast for this weekend, so perhaps wait another week or so before planting anything [:
I buy mine from http://www.crocus.co.uk/ they're well known and often win gold awards at chelsea and such, but that's only because I don't drive, so I don't see why you couldn't pick some up from B&Q, or a garden centre such as the one at crosspool.

Yes I wouldn't plant any right now, perhaps wait until March! :)
I got some corkers from of all places Netto! They were cheap at about £2/3 and they had tons of flowers last year. If you want a more mature plant you'll have to pay more but these only took a year to flourish and have a carpet of blooms.
.
great snow :(
think ill check netto then n try the link also top stuff :)

My clemitas grows fine in early spring, then gets a white mildew about now (May) and then just fades away without flowering. What could be the cause?
