I'm hoping to get a pair of guinea pigs soon and doing some cage research. I'll be keeping them indoors and was wondering what sort of cage people reccommend. I think the reccommended size is at least 120cm, but i have seen some smaller but over 2 plus layers. What do you think is most suitable?
I would say that a single story cage may be better, sometimes guineas are reluctant to use ramps. If its an indoor cage then the ramp may be too steep or slippy if its plastic. If you wanted to use a ramp you can cover it with carpet or vetbed which will give it grip and you can use metal grids to make a side so that they don't fall off it.

The best cages I know of are made from wire grid cubes and lined with corrugated plastic. I wouldn't keep guinea pigs in a 1.2 metre cage for more than a few days - they like to run around. If you look on

you can see what I mean and get some ideas.
Thanks guys, i'll have a look at the website.

I've got some of those grids spare, I was going to offer them on freecycle with the connectors. I have enough to make a 2 by 2 if not a couple more
Thanks for the offers peaches. I think i'm going to have to delay getting the piggies until we get some more space! :(
