Well we have been to the vet on Friday, Saturday and now this morning. He cannot shake of this tummy bug/bacterial infection :(.
He now has a bloody mucus he is producing so we are off today to have some treatment as his bowel is irritated and that is why it is producing the mucus and blood.

My poor boy hasn't eaten since Thursday morning and is desperate for food but just not allowed to give him anything until his tum has settled:(. I am a bit worried he may start freaking out soon as he is a rescue and was found starving :(

Wish us luck for the hairy one he is having a hard time of it at the moment and not himself.

we are using wakerley and speed vets at Kilamarsh and Dronfield they do not use vets now and do their own emergency cover. Very helpful and have been great with Alby. The vet we are seeing obviously knows dogs which is nice xx

Well we are back he has had another steroid and antibiotic injection but we can give him some food today :). As long as he doesn't pass any more yucky stuff we can start him on oral AB's tomorrow and continue with 2 small meals. If he does pass more yuckyness then we are off to see them again tomorrow :(.

Keep your fingers crossed :) he is not impressed with not having food though poor old boy xxx

Did they just advise on something light then Adz? I would stick to chicken or white fish and nothing else.

I hope he keeps it in bless him.

Good luck x

He is having white fish and rice but only in small amounts to start with for the first few days. He likes that anyway so we will have no complaints. Tilly can have some to so i am sure she will also be pleased.

Thanks Gemima xxx

Poor Albert its dragging on a bit isn't it? I've always found white fish to be fantastic for settling tummies though so hopefully he will soon be on the mend :)

Natural yoghurt or that other goats stuff - is nice on the tummy also
dogs can manage without food and their bodies don't eat if theyare ill - just make sure he has lots of water and diaralytes (sp), if he isn't drinking. Water is the main thing.
He is fine without food - don't force him,

he will sometimes eat to please you cos you beg him, but often he knows best.

water - and light only

have theyput him on anything like KAOBIOTIC? they are marvelous

If he is still no better tomorrow - blood or stool test must be done and find out whats wrong quickly -

good luck helen
i hope grandad is back to normal soon

Any news on Albert yet, has he had breakfast?

He is wanting to eat Rain it is me that feels bad for starving him :(

We had some blood and mucas again last night but nothing this morning. So they have said to feed a small amount again of white fish and rice and if we have no more blood and mucus by tea time he can have another small amount with oral antibiotics tonight. Any more blood and mucus then off to the vet tonight.

They haven't mentioned probiotic and what you said Rain :hihi: but i had bought some anyway for him due to his sensitive tum to start trying him with that in his meals but think i shall let this pass and do as they say and then start it. If he is still unwell again today i shall be asking them to do more and take samples etc. as this has been a week now from the very beginning.
He has lost a KG in weight which to be honest he can afford to lose he is well covered :hihi: compared to the skinny minny who arrived here a year or so ago.

I hope noone objects to the fairly graphic descriptions it's just it can be informative for others to hear about other peoples experiences i know i have learnt an awful lot from other people sharing although thankfully not always threads about Pooh :hihi:

Joanl he wolfed his break down and looked at me to say 'well where is the rest?' :hihi: he does like his grub and he is drinking fine.

Another question though for anyone that may know. Do steroid and antibiotic injections make them wee more? as he is drinking but seems to be weeing more than usual.

Thanks guys :)
