Check this out from The Star website, I dont know if anybody else has made any points about this on SF yet but aparently Sheffield pavements are the worst for condition in the uk, meaning if you trip and injure yourself you have a great chance to claim lol

The council just seem to be treading water on essential repairs to roads and footpaths until they get a decision on the PFI scheme.
But what happens if the bid fails ? Even if the scheme is approved how many years do we wait before we see any resulls ? There is bound to be a long drawn-out process of tendering and planning etc.
If they don't get their act together most of the allocation for repairs will be eaten up by compensation pay-outs !!

If it fails I can't see it being an awful lot different from it is now......not enough money and poor roads.
It will take a while to procure but then again we could be talking about a £600m contract.
